Crazy Thought...Albert Haynesworth

Haynesworth is signed through the next three years at a price of $15.7 million, with his 2010 and 2011 salaries guaranteed at $3.6 million and $5.4 million. The Redskins are looking for a 2nd round pick it seems (in the press) to move him.

How great would it be to deal next years 2nd round pick and a player like Anthony Adams to get a monster 6-6 350lbs DT to play next to Tommy Harris? Would it be worth cutting Tommie Harris? Harris is due to collect $4.25 million this season and will have $3 million by the end of June. Harris has a $2.5 million roster bonus due that month and he can also earn a $500,000 workout bonus in June. That's before a base salary of $1.25 million in 2010.

I would love to see the Bears get in on the Haynesworth giveaway sweepstakes. Redo the last 4 years of the contract. Give him a Bonus and either put him next to Harris or throw Jarron Gilbert in there and cut Harris loose giving his money to Haynesworth.

Highly implausible but there's not like there's anything else to talk about so I like it. Personally, I wish because it was an uncapped year we had a line of Haynesworth, Harris, Brown and Peppers. GG everyone.

Edit: Then again, we don't even have Brown anymore. :(

I don't think it's crazy at all. I think Harris was only in on 53% of the defensive snaps last year - he's just an overpaid part time guy that can only turn it on a max of 5 plays a game. I never thought we'd keep him on the roster to collect that roster bonus you're referring to but now it seems like a foregone conclusion that we will pay it. WHY ?!?

Teams know they can run right at Harris at this point in his career. He's a liability. I'm sick of his usual "I'm in great shape" off-season rhetoric. We hear it every year but nothing is going to magically make that knee (or knees) better. He probably hasn't been a full time player since high school.

emperor for GM.

Rumor was they wanted a 1st rounder for him. Bears don't have one, otherwise we would be one of the best d-lines's in the game with peppers and anderson outside and harris + haynesworth inside. No way they could be stopped.

I think trading picks for players like Haynesworth (Mcnabb etc) is becoming a great strategy. We know that Haynesworth is going to stuff the middle and could probably play for a number of years at a strong level. If we had a line of Peppers next to Harris next to Haynesworth and Anderson, our line would be ridiculous. That would lead to our linebacking core being unleashed and our secondary reaping the benefits of the havoc. Thats wortha 1st round pick IMO. Actually I am becoming a fan of trading next years 1st & 2nd round picks for established players this year every year as a strategy.

Being the draftnik that I am, I don't think I could handle 3 yrs in a row without a 1st round pick.

I don't think I've ever been less jazzed for a draft than this one given we've given up our 1st and 2nd rounder for 26 interceptions and a now-deceased DE (not be harsh).
