Do the Bears make a run for him, to me he would be a nice addition to the defense.
Thoughts???

What's the salary cap situation? We just spent a **** of money this offseason. Do we have room for him left?

I'd like him here, but I don't think there's any way the Bears spend big money on a cover corner. Its not really a priority position for them in their defense.

Would love him, but after the spending last offseason coupled with emperor's reasoning I don't see it happening. He is going to be come a very, very rich man this offseason.

Not gonna happen, nor do I think it should. Bears need to spend money on a big wideout.

Offensive line, Wide receiver, Linebacker, and finally cornerback.

We have 2 pro bowl linebackers on our team that are going to be with us for at least the next 2 years. We won't be spending money on a LB unless its for a 3rd LB (bringing back pisa and/or roach), a backup, or late round draft pick with potential for the future. I would replace LB with DT. We could possibly go DT in round 1.

Jackpot!
Corner is their least significant position on defense.

Cap situation has not been announced and truthfully who knows when that will be announced, the only news is that franchise tags will be in the new CBA, likely he wont land here, but since no cap has been announced alot of teams wont throw money at him until the new CBA is announced, i agree with most of you when you say its least important to go after a corner, but it would be nice to see a shut down corner such as Asomugha, i think this free agency is about the O line and One WR evrything else will most likely be taken care of in the draft.

Yep, pretty much. I'd love a guy like Asomugha here, but this defense works with pretty much anyone in the secondary as long as they're not slow as sin.

The money spent on Asomugha would be much better spent on a defensive tackle that can get a consistent pass rush up the middle. Considering how Harris, Manning and Wright have played in the secondary this year, the DT pass rush is the most pressing need defensively this season; it'll make Peppers, Idonije, Wooton and Melton that much better when they're on the ends.

^^^^ I wonder if Adrian Clayborn(many have him as a DE but he is only a few lbs from DT size) would drop to us.

No Iowa guys. There's gotta be someone better on Iowa State! Hehe.
He might not be a bad idea. His draft stock compared to last year has taken a major hit, and watching him, he seems (to Cliff Levingston at least) a more ideal fit as a pass rushing DT or a 3-4 end.

if you want someone from Iowa, look into Tyler Sash at safety. but that's not a huge need.

Bears don't press and play man coverage a lot, so I don't know if he would have use for this system.
Its a bit different than Basketball to me. Like with the whole Miami situation where you have good players, but all of them may not fit a system.
I mean if you can tweak the system and have him playing man, with the zone over the top you do that, but I don't know.
Bears #1 concern should be to pry Logan Mankins away from the Patriots.

I think they are foolish to not take a look at him. Unless there are free agents out there that provide as big of a boost at OL, WR, S, or DL, I would get him. It's sort of like the argument of taking the best talent in the draft, regardless of need. You don't want to pass up a sure thing for a lesser talented guy that may fill a 'need'.

Asomugha is a special player that can absolutely dominate a game. In a division with Calvin Johnson and Greg Jennings you have to consider him. Especially since the NFL is getting more pass happy every year
