The Chicago Bears last month restructured the contract of defensive end Julius Peppers, a move that will save the them around $8 million in salary cap space in 2011, a league source told espnchicago.com.

The Bears accomplished this by changing a $10.5 million roster bonus owed to the defensive end into a signing bonus that they can now spread over the length of the deal, which runs 2015.

The restructured deal would reduces Peppers' cap number from $12 million

Probably a cost-cutting move for the lockout.

Whether we're clearing cap room to make a move or we're just trying to save money I like this move.

I think a big move is gonna be made in free agency. I also hope we re-sign Tommie Harris to some sort of short contract to give him a shot.

There probably isn't going to be a free agency
