Per Rotoworld :

"Veteran C Olin Kreutz is walking away from the Saints because "he no longer feels passion and doesn't want to just collect paycheck," according to his agent."

Wow - that's a big deal walking away from a contender. I wonder if it was really his choice or if the Saints were going to push him out and let him announce it as his own decision?

More like he realizes he no longer has the ability. The Saints & fans have not been happy. Of course somehow the local media is going to somehow spin this as a negative to the Bears, but the reality is it makes his demands this summer look outrageous.

We look like idiots for not giving him his big contract.

Well we DID offer him a big payday but he let his pride get in the way and took less to play with the Saints. I have no doubt he'd still be playing if he took the Bears' original offer (probably to the detriment of Cutler).

I love Olin, but as I & others in this forum have said, his skills have been on the decline for three seasons. It's time to call it a career. I wish he would have realized this before the season, so that he could have went out while wearing only one jersey for his entire career.

It wasn't not resigning him that bugged me so much, it's the way it was handled.

The way he handled resigning is horrible. Especially now that word is out that the Saints had decided that he was riding the bench because they liked a journeyman backup over him. This really makes him look like more of a child then he looked leaving the Bears.

I had grown not to like home the last few years when I started believing his locker room "chemistry" was really more like a childish Phil Jackson "us against management" take. This just puts me more in the "childish" camp

***update** listening to Sunday night football and they are stating that Saints personnel are saying that Kruetz quit because he was upset they were going to bench him. WEAK! What a way to end your career. Quitting a championship contending team because you aren't starting? Imagine the heat Cedric Benson or Roy Williams would be getting for a move like that? The media is bending over backwards to make him out to be "understood"
