RT @vxmcclure23: 2 sources confirm that Cutler will be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks, but Bears have no plans to place him on injured reserve.

I doubt it.

And why are you so pessimistic all the time?

I don't know. Maybe because the Bears just lost their best player to injury?

You're pessimistic when things are going well.

Just saw it briefly mentioned on a local news Bears recap, so I hit up the Trib to check the severity.

Out 6-8 weeks.

Just enough time for Caleb Hanie to establish himself and for us to trade his ass for a few first round picks.

I'm also hearing 6-8 weeks.

I still think we beat Denver, Seattle & KC. The Raiders will be a struggle and the Packers a loss if the game has meaning. So could it come down to the Vikings on the road? If so I think we win it. Hopefully Jay can come back for the playoffs.

Matt Forte wants a new deal? Here's his chance to earn it big time.

Sidenote...ugh. I don't think this team is overly screwed in the short run mainly because they hold tiebreakers over plenty of teams in the wild card hunt already. But Cutler's been stellar over the last handful of weeks, so this stings plenty.

I'm gonna hope that this news is the result of a bunch of over-active reporters. Hopefully it's just sprained.... If his thumb really is broken and he does miss the rest of the season I think we still have a good shot at the playoffs. Like Emperor said, we have a pretty favorable schedule coming up. We could even make the playoffs if we split the remaining 6 games and end up at 10-6 as long as one or none of the teams in the Wild card hunt end up with a better record than us.

I hope he's not out because it lessens our chances and I've always been a huge Cutler fan. But I still like our chances as long as he's ready by January.
