Trying to collect myself & my thought right now. The first thing that's coming to my mind right now (for whatever reason) is to ask a question.

When was the last time that the Bears TRULY developed a QB?

It seems that every QB coach we hire ends up sucking!!! Other teams draft young QBs & have them ready to play by their 2nd or 3rd year. Why not us??????

The only good about the 2011 season was: Cutler, Forte, and our Defense (when not forced to put points up on the board under the motto of "Bend don't break.").

Outside of that, I'd re-tool the line still, get a big tall WR, & for god sakes build some depth where its needed. We've needed a decent 2nd-string QB since 2006! We had a chance to get some a few weeks ago to give us a shot going toward a postseason birth. Alas, thats over.

The problem with getting a QB a few weeks ago is the complexity of our offense. Jim Miller addressed this issue on the Bears post-game show. He suggests that we change our offense into a less complex system. His reasoning was two-fold: It would help attract free-agents & we could plug in a mid-season emergency FA if we sustained injuries. On top of that, it takes a couple years for our own players to learn Martz's offense.

The downside is putting Cutler through yet another offensive scheme.

Id scrap Martz system it was foolish to go with it to begin with knowing we would never commit to bringing in the receivers needed to run it properly . Youve got to be committed to having that sort of offense and I dont think we ever were .

Hanie's been here for several years and this is the best we can get for years of prep work ?

The only good thing is the packers losing

After the initial disappointment, I think people will realize soon that this team losing and not being in the playoffs is the best thing right now. Maddening to think about from where this team was a month ago, but a better draft position is more valuable than a one and done playoff appearance this year, at this point, especially if Angelo bolts before the draft.

Not sure that it makes a difference now - we'll lose the next two whether we try our hardest or not and I have little doubt of that. The only way it made sense to win is if Cutler was going to make it back for the playoffs. Now that we haven't won two "winnable" games, the point is moot.

It will be interesting to see who Lovie goes with next week. Hanie has tried and failed and should probably have seen his last snap as a Bear. McCown has no future on the team and is purely an emergency guy. Now that we're out of it, it's time to throw Enderle to the wolves and see what we have there. Any other decision is a joke.

Oh, we need to quit with the idea that the Bears don't need a good man to man corner because of our defensive scheme - it's just BS. I understand the concept but there were multiple times today that Tim Jennings got flat out exposed once our safety rotated to a different receiver and TJ was left on an island.

Tavaris Jackson/Golden Tate shouldn't be owning us.

Just please don't replace angelo with tim ruskell! Get a GM that has a good vision on both sides of the ball, not just on defense.

The problem is I don't think we were a one and done team. Maybe I was drinking the Kool-Aid but I was thinking we could make noise if Jay didn't get hurt. I felt Jay was playing that well. It just sucks never knowing what might've been. Now I just listen to this all day.

No, I agree with this. A month ago with Cutler healthy, this team could have beaten anyone in the league, I truly believe that. I'm talking about the condition this team has been in for the last month, and the idea that this team could still be in the playoffs even with Hanie in, Forte out, etc. With what we have seen since Cutler went out, I'm not sure why anyone would want to see this team in the postseason. That's my point.

The goal in any professional sport is to win a championship. A month ago, this team had a shot. The team we see now isn't that team anymore. Making the postseason would have done nothing, they would have been slaughtered by the Saints or Cowboys in the first round. In order to achieve that overall goal of winning a title, making the playoffs this season doesn't get this team closer to that. Looking to the upcoming draft does.

Agreed. Seeing how we played against the Raiders and knowing we weren't going to win in the playoffs anyway, Cliff Levingston hoped we'd lose out and get a better pick; maybe high enough to get Alshon Jefferey. Hopefully that comes true.

After last nights playoff-ending loss, hopefully we'll see some player evaluation tape made for the upcoming off-season. We should use this final game for that because we have questions in some key areas.

Starting CBs?
Starting safeties?
Backup QB?
Playing time for our rookie QB?
Linebacker depth?
Our two D-linemen to play alongside Peppers & Melton?
Starting interior linemen?

....And please sit our few premier players. No reason for any silly injuries in a game that means absolutely nothing.
