Rumor on Walterfootball that's spread all over the web. It was posted before Emery was even signed so take it for what it's worth but it's fun to speculate esp after looking at his highlight reel.

Rumors of Bold Moves for Bears

It is not earth-shattering news to say that the Chicago Bears need wide receiver help. Chicago hasn't had a 1,000-yard wideout since Marty Booker in 2002 under wide receivers coach Todd Haley.

Roy Williams was a free agent bust. He tied Johnny Knox with 27 receptions on the season, the most of any Bear wideout. Williams is a free agent, and it would be a shock if Chicago re-signed him. Earl Bennett is a solid depth receiver, and Devin Hester is a spot player, but the team really needs two new starters. There are rumors going around that Chicago is going to make some bold moves to address the receiver position this offseason.

Under new offensive coordinator Mike Tice, Chicago is expected to have a run-based offense, but they know they need some receivers to work with quarterback Jay Cutler. The Bears are in Cutler's prime years as an NFL quarterback, and they have to get him some receivers that can take advantage of a quality signal-caller.

Chicago is discussed as a team that could make a big run at a free agent receiver. Right now there could be a few good options to pick from: New Orleans' Marques Colston, Kansas City's Dwayne Bowe, San Diego's Vincent Jackson and Buffalo's Steve Johnson could all hit the open market.

One of the rumors that Chicago is being linked to is a big trade in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft to land Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon. The fast and physical playmaker looks like a young Terrell Owens and a future game-changer. In order for the Bears to get high enough to land Blackmon, they might have to trade away their 2013 first-rounder in a deal similar to what Atlanta did to acquire Julio Jones in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Bears have some extra ammo for a trade as they have two third-round picks because of the Greg Olsen deal.

Goes on to discuss Finley as a FA target. Emperor endorses this move.

I like Blackmon but I don't like him enough to give up two firsts. I think we can get a quality player with the 19th pick and address our needs via free agency.

I do like the idea of FInely though.

I was bouncing back and forth with picking up Finley in the little GM game we're doing, but opted for Bowe instead. I'm a huge fan of Blackmon, and if you can trade up to get him, then sign Finley, that'd work for me, too.

No to Blackmon and probably no to Finley, though it depends on cost.

When you win it all, the pick is so low it's virtually a 2nd round pick, though....

I haven't looked at Blackmon enough, but trading future firsts when you can possibly get established WRs... you had better be damn sure Blackmon is as good as Bowe, Colston, VJax etc if you decide to pass onthem.

I don't usually watch a lot of college football, but from the first game I saw Blackmon play last year I knew he was special. He is just a flat out monster. This guy will definitely be a game breaker in the mold of Anquan Boldin/Larry Fitzgerald.

I would really consider trading the 19th pick and next year's first to get him. If we had to put in more than that I wouldn't do it because draft picks are really valuable, but he could very well become a top 5 wr in the league and would be worth two firsts IMO.

Well I think the plan would be to take a shot at the big names in FA and if we strike out there, our hand may be forced. Not sure if you're going to find a #1 WR where we're slotted.

Blackman looks like the real deal!! I would trade two first round pick for him. But, along with that we need a true number 1/2 receiver to go with him. This team is in need of two top wide receivers with Knox's injury. Bold moves are needed with this team in order to make that next step!

To maintain pace competitively with our division rivals and the league in general, considering it more a passing league now, we must drastically upgrade our WR position. I believe we should trade two #1s for a potential top 5 receiver and perennial pro bowl prospect like Blackmon, if it is determined after careful observation that he is the goods.

However, we need two #1 caliber WRs, so we should also pursue Bowe, Colston, or VJax in free agency also. We would become immediate Super Bowl contenders at that point. We need to capitalize on the closing window of our still good defensive unit and bold moves now on offense to take us to the next level asap.

Blackmons is talent but he has too many lapses that most seem to overlook. He had a few fumbles near the goaline no less and had numerous drops at key times. I wouldn't trade up to get him at the price suggested.

If it's between trading up a little bit or not at all for Floyd or trading way up for Blackmon, Cliff Levingston opts for Floyd.
