OK, now that our trades are done and the NFL draft is over, its time to make our selections. I locked the draft trade thread so there won't be any errors with the picks you traded for earlier. We have 7 GMs that have survived rounds 1 & 2 and can participate in the draft.

Remember, you can only select a player that was selected at the pick or below the pick you are using - i.e. if you want to draft Alshon Jeffrey, you have to pick him with the 45th pick or higher. You can't take him at 50 or 75 etc.

Remember Also that we will be reviewing/grading/judging your picks based in part on NFL.com's grading/scouting report. The grades they have for each player drafted are next to the player name on their draft list which can be found here: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/tracker/b ... nd-input:1

The grades are based on this:

96-100 Future Hall of Famer
Top Pick A once-in-a-generation type prospect who could change how his position is played

85-95 Immediate Starter
An impact player with the ability/intangibles to become a Pro Bowl player. Expect to start immediately except in a unique situation (i.e. behind a veteran starter).

70-84 Eventual Starter
A quality player who will contribute to the team early on and is expected to develop into a starter. A reliable player who brings value to the position.

50-69 Draftable Player
A prospect with the ability to make team as a backup/role player. Needs to be a special teams contributor at applicable positions. Players in the high range of this category might have long-term potential.

20-49 Free Agent
A player with solid measurables, intangibles, college achievements, or a developing skill that warrants an opportunity in an NFL camp. In the right situation, he could earn a place on a 53-man roster, but most likely will be a practice squad player or a camp body.

Sooooo, don't draft some scrub and argue NFL.com is wrong LOL.

David is one of the premier linebacker prospects in this year's draft class. Instant upgrade over Nick Roach. Adds 10lbs and is a Day 1 starter who brings speed and ferocity to the strong side. Injects much needed youth in the LB core.

With the 237th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select.......James Brown, Guard, Troy.

We needed depth at Tackle and Guard and Brown fits the bill. He played tackle at Troy and will serve as our backup swing tackle & right guard. A projected 2nd round pick by the scouts at NFL.com, Brown slips to us all the way to us in the 7th round.

With the 19th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select David DeCastro, guard, Stanford University. Grade: 92.5
Huge steal at this point in the draft and can play either center or guard. The weakness of the team last year is now the strength. Gaither, Williams, Garza, DeCastro, Carimi.

With the 48th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Rueben Randle, wide receiver, Louisiana State University. Grade: 86
Had great production in the SEC (917 yards 8 touchdowns) despite having lackluster quarterback play. Is a big, go-to receiver and will create matchup problems playing opposite Marshall.

With the 93rd pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Lamar Miller, running back, University of Miami. Grade: 84.5
A very quick running back who also has good size at 215 pounds. Great compliment to Forte, and can start if Forte holds out or chooses not to re-sign with my team next season.

With the 122nd pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Ronnell Lewis, defensive end, Oklahoma University. Grade: 83.5
Good pass rusher in Oklahoma's 3-4 defense. Had to move to 3-4 DE when the starter there went down. Pass rusher who will compete with Corey Wootton for the starting spot, so it's virtually his to lose.

With the 126th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Zebrie Sanders, offensive tackle, Florida State University. Grade: 82.7
Reliable pass blocker. Can be the swing tackle, or possibly allows Carimi to move inside where he would excel as a mauling run blocker. Adds talent and options to the line for Tice. Maybe we can roll out with a lineup of Gaither, Williams, DeCastro, Carimi, Sanders? Just a suggestion lol

With the 156th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Billy Winn, defensive tackle, Boise State University. Grade: 84
Good pass rushing tackle who uses his hands and quickness. In the mold of Lovie's beloved Harris and Melton, not much upper-body strength, but great quickness and pass rush ability.

With the 166th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Cam Johnson, defensive end, University of Virginia. Grade: 72
Adds depth to the pass rushers. Slid in the draft because of his motor but has great measurables. Marinelli will motivate him to be a good backup pass rusher.

With the 167th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Ryan Lindley, quarterback, San Diego State Univeristy. Grade: 64
A developmental quarterback with a strong arm and good accuracy who will eventually become the backup. Needs to work on his progressions while developing.

With the 191st pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Alfonzo Dennard, cornerback, University of Nebraska. Grade: 85.7
Will have to stay out of anymore trouble to stay on the team, but if he can do that he will make an immediate impact in the rotation and can replace Tillman once his time is up. Tillman, Marshall, Dennard.

With the 42nd pick the Bears take

Alshon Jeffrey - WR - South Carolina

Tremendous physical attributes and was very productive a season ago, has some work ethic issues but alongside Brandon Marshall he will have a chance to see a pro at work everyday at practice.

Grade 84.0

With the 50th pick the Bears take

Vin Curry -DE - Marshall

Solid pass rusher who dropped because of a bad forty time at the combine. High motor and excellent instincts, this guy will be a solid contributor to the DL rotation.

Grade 84.5

With the 72nd pick the Bears take

Brandon Thompson - DT - Clemson

Has a chance to be a stud, just has to be coached. Strong as hell, quick and very agile.

With the 73rd pick the Bears take

Donald Stephenson -T - Oklahoma

Dude is a monster on the left side, perfect blend of height and power. Very raw and will need to be coached but he has the run blocking down to a science. Tice is the best in the business....

Grade 82.0

With the 79th pick the Bears take

Bobbie Massie - T - Ole Miss

Will transition to guard, luxury pick here. Big guy with nimble feet, perfect for pulling and mauling. Eventual starter with Tice in house...

With the 145th pick the Bears take

Antonio Allen - S - South Carolina

True in the box safety but versatile enough to cover TEs in a pinch and has a good enough understanding to play the Cover-2

Grade 69.5

With the 150th pick the Bears take

Bill Winn - DT - Boise

Value pick, someone who will be part of the rotation and can play some DE in a pinch

Grade 84.0

With the 184th pick the Bears take

Chris Polk - RB - Washington

If Forte holds out, he can be our third down back. If not, he can earn some time on the practice squad until Fortes situation is resolved.

With the 220nd pick the Bears take

Alfonzo Denard - CB Nebraska

Because I like conflict, I'll put the guy that got underneathe Jefferys skin at the bowl against him in practice. Super talented but to quote Mel Kipers unfiltered opinion , this guy is a schmuck. Has pending legal charges but low risk and extremely high reward.

He shores up the interior of my O-Line for the next 10+ years, while simultaneously allowing me to move Chris Williams back to LT. Williams & Webb will fight it out to determine who starts opposite Carmini, while the loser becomes my backup swing Tackle.

He's a 6'4" Beast that will provide another huge target for Jay Cutler on the opposite side of Brandon Marshall, while Earl Bennet slides into the slot. We then have the option of lining Devin Hester and/or Johnny Knox up in various spots, while utilizing their top-NFL speed to drive defenses crazy.

Chicago Bears selection at #17 of Round 3 is:

Jamell Fleming (CB) from Oklahoma University.
Grade: 83.5

Fleming is superb in man coverage. He is reliable on an island and showed he could stay with any receiver in the Big 12. He is not technically sound, but his backpedal and hips are naturally fluid. He can backpedal for long stretches, even by NFL standards, which allows him to stay on top of receivers and plant, drive and react to plays. He has the speed to catch up to receivers if beat and the ability to run down plays from the backside or provide help in zone. He makes the play every time as a tackler, and he can drive through his hips to deliver a blow to a ball carrier.

Chicago Bears selection at #21 of Round 3 is:

Brandon Thompson (DT) from Clemson University.
Grade: 84.5

Thompson is an incredible run defender inside. He is consistent in his play and uses his feet to make plays against the run. He comes off the ball quickly and is able to fill gaps well at his size. He also makes plays on the ball carrier. He is a very strong player who knows how to use his hands and disrupt plays in the backfield.

Chicago Bears selection at #11 of Round 4 is:

Ladarius Green (TE) from Louisiana-Lafayette University.
Grade: 67.5

Now THIS is what you call a redzone target at TE. He's a 6'6" monster.

Green is a big tight end who understands how to get open and use his frame to be a good option for the quarterback in the short passing game. He has good foot quickness, which he uses along with his frame to work against zone coverage and box out smaller defenders to secure the easy first-down catch. Green has body control that allows him to leap, torque and reach both high and low for poorly thrown balls, making him the type of red-zone option who can have his quarterback throw jump balls.

Chicago Bears selection at #30 of Round 4 is:

Ronnell Lewis (LB) from Oklahoma University.
Grade: 83.5

Lewis is a strong player against the run and can hold the edge well despite often giving up 50 pounds. He has strong arms to shed blocks and is very good defending the run; Lewis can engage, read, shed and move toward the ball with ease and has a burst. He has the speed to run down ball carriers to the outside and is a good striker once he gets there. He is a tireless pass rusher who relies more on will than technique. He is active in the box and has some positional versatility.

Chicago Bears selection at #22 of Round 5 is:

George Iloka (S) from Boise St. University.
Grade: 73.0

This 6'4" 225LB safety has been the quarterback of his team's secondary.

Iloka can diagnose a play and be in position in zone. He aligns very deep but has the speed to react and get involved when he needs to. He takes off once he makes a decision. He has good body control to break down and tackle or leap to make a play on the ball. He is reliable at making the interception when in front of it and comes down hard to meet running backs in run support.

Chicago bears selection at #11 of Round 6 is:

Cyrus Gray (RB) from Texas A&M.
Grade: 69.7

Gray is a big and athletic back who hits the hole hard and is elusive for a man of his size. He is one of those natural runners who understands when to weave and when to run with power. He has been highly productive and his style of running with power in his legs makes him a reliable short-yardage option early in his career.

Chicago Bears selection at #10 of Round 7 is:

Cam Johnson (DE) from Virginia University.
Grade: 72.0

Johnson is a good athlete who moves well for an end his size. He has the foot quickness and explosive first step to keep offensive tackles off balance, and the body control to work his moves and not be thrown off track by linemen. He is a classic 4-3 defensive end who excels at rushing the passer. He is a face-up tackler who can fill his lane in run support, despite the inclination to rush the passer every down. He uses his hands actively when rushing the passer and playing against the run, and he gives good effort in pursuit on the backside. He is strong enough to hold the edge for his linebackers to flow to their gaps.

As the GM of the Chicago Bears I enter the 2012 NFL Draft with 2 of the best positional coaches in the League. The Bears have Marinelli and Tice so I want to focus on getting young players who these coaches can develop before they are gone. My Free Agent additions (Mario Williams and Robert Meachem) were proven pieces to help win immediately. Now my draft can complete the team and fill the remaining holes in the team which are the Offensive Line, Cornerback, Linebacker, and the Defensive Line.

#42 Overall Draft Pick: Jonathan Martin – Offensive Tackle – Stanford

Need Filled: Chicago Bears needed a Left Tackle and Jonathan Martin is a 1st Round Talent. He is NFL ready, something I view as a priority when drafting an offensive lineman this high.

#50 Overall Draft Pick: Peter Konz – Center – Wisconsin

Need Filled: Chicago Bears threw Roberto Garza at Center after not playing it for over 10 years. Peter Konz is another 1st Round Talent who is NFL ready. His familiarity with Gabe Carimi is another plus combined with his work ethic and it’s a no brainer.

#72 Overall Draft Pick: Brandon Thompson – Defensive Tackle – Clemson

Need Filled: Risky Risky Risky….but it’s the 7th Round! Was considered a top prospect before off the field issues. Bears need cornerback depth and he can certainly step in.

As the offseason comes to an end it is very clear that the Chicago Bears are going for a win now approach. With 8 draft picks in the 2012 NFL draft I was able to draft 8 Immediate Starter level players.
