Re: All-Time Team?
I know that Peyton and the skill players on offense would work well together. Possession type receivers and a back who a great receiver and blocker. Peyton would definitely be happy.

I hate to say it, but Barry Sanders would definitely be my RB.

Walter had more heart hands down, but I'm still taking Sanders for that team.

I actually love them both, but I constantly have flashbacks to my childhood when the name 'Walter Payton' is mentioned.
Dude, everybody wanted to be him when we played either unorganized (getting yelled at by the neighbors because we destroyed their lawns) or organized (Pop Warner leagues).
Maybe if Barry Sanders would've played longer, it would make my decision harder

This...Sanders would arguably have held the total yards record today if he didn't retire a few years to early.
I didn't get to see Sweetness play because I was like 4 when he retired and not in America yet lol but I have watched so many high lights that it was insane seeing him do some of the things he did. He had so much power!

Why?
It's one thing if all other 10 players on offense are **** like what Sanders had throughout his career. But when you're talking an all time team, I'd much rather have the RB who is much better all around and can also block and be a receiver than the one who was almost exclusively a rusher.

Specifically Because I want the best runner behind that offensive line. If I a great overall team I want postion players that excel in one area over those that don't. It becomes much more important to have a RB that can block if you have a weak offensive line. As that line improves, the value of a great blocker at RB diminishes. Walter was great at picking up blitzes. With those receivers and TEs, who is going to blitz that team? Give me the best pure runner (I almost said Eric Dickerson just because of this) for that specific team.

Re: All-Time Team?
If this is an all time team we are takling about I would choose Charles Woodson at one of the CB spots. And I don't think Peyton is the best QB of all time. I would much rather have Montana or Elway leading my squad.

Re: All-Time Team?
Actually, I'd go Steve Young over Montana by the slimmest of margins. Young at his peak, to me, had a higher ceiling in production.
And yes, I have no shame in saying, Barry Sanders was the greatest running back I ever saw. Walter was incredible and I'll keep saying his accomplishments still don't speak to how tough he really was but Sanders could beat you single handily. He didn't need a line or a QB. Just a small crease.
I'm no sure Cris Carter is the second best WR ever, in fact, for the sake of this team, I'd put Randy Moss on the other side without hesitation. Tony G as my TE, Anthony Munoz, who to me, was the greatest OL to ever put pads on and my defense would start and end with the likes of Bruce Smith, Reggie White, Derrick Thomas and Lawerence Taylor and Ray Lewis. And yeah, Steve Atwater, the most fearless hitter EVER.

Re: All-Time Team?
I'd actually put Doug Plank at SS. Not because he deserves to be there, but just for punishing any receiver who dared to come down the seams on that defense.
Looking at that defense, an ALL-Bears defense would stack up pretty good against that all league D.

It is hard to argue against Walter but Barry is def one. Sayers is another I will also say Jim Brown but all three had too short of careers 2 by choice.

Lots of people criticizes Barry for stepping away from the game at a young age, but I respect him a lot for that he made a ton of money and got out with a clean bill of health. If anything I think more highly of Barry because he didn't let his body get destroyed by the meat grinder that is the NFL. Running Backs have so many issues with their knees when they get older, from all the constant impacts, and now with all this new information about concussions, I would have made the same choice I'd rather be able to walk at the end of my career like Barry can, then to be the next Brett Favre and hold on-to long or get my body obliterated from playing pro-football into my mid 30's.

I agree with you guys. Ronnie Lott deserves a mention.
