Lovie Smith eyes Matt Forte return
ESPNChicago.com

Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith said the team is "hopeful" Matt Forte will play on Oct. 1 against the Dallas Cowboys on "Monday Night Football" after missing one game with an ankle injury.

"He made a lot of progress last week, and we have an extra day also, so that should help," Smith told WBBM-AM 780 on Monday. "We're just hopeful that he'll be able to go. If not, our running backs, not only Michael Bush (Sunday), but Kahlil Bell and Armando Allen all did a good job. But we hope we'll get our stud running back back."

The cowboys o-line might be just as bad as the bears. The D-line will dominate even more so this week

And they will dominate our o-line more so this week than Rams did. Oddly enough, the only two sacks of the game for the Rams came from Chris Long, on Carimi's side. Quinn is a pass rushing stud also and Webb neutralized him.

Unfortunately that probably means Webb will have a terrible game against the Cowboys because he rarely puts together two good games in a row.

In defense of Carmini, at least one of those sacks was on Bush.

DeMarcus Ware should have a career day against our garbage O-line the Cowboys are going to blitz the crap out of us.

Pretty much the entire d-line for the cowboys are hurt, so as long as Tice makes the gameplan to stop Ware the O-line might have a fighting chance. Nevertheless the bears d-line will dominate more than the Cowboys d-line. I didnt see the cowboys last game but apparently he was on his back more than a Las Vegas street walker so pep should have his way

Hopefully the Bears learned their lesson from the Green Bay game as far as playing against a good D-line. All they can do is send extra help and run generous amounts of running plays and short passes.

If I were the Bears I'd do the following
-Use a two back set with Forte and Bush, using Bush to help against pass rushers
-No huddle
-Silent Counts
-Slants, WR and RB screens, designed passes outside the pocket with a mixture of deep passes

This should slow down the pass rush against any team and help the o-line a lot. The Coaches' need to realize that they don't have the talent so it has to be about the scheme when comes to the o-line. We won't have the "big play" that the Bears are capable of but we don't need that with this defense. We have great YAC players so it wouldn't matter.

Cutler and a prime time matchup = not a good mix.

If Dallas defense was on my fantasy league's waiver wire, I'd be alllll over it.

Jay can't flake against the Cowboys, he needs to it step up.

Bears' offense ranks 27th overall and 28th in passing. Jay Cutler, good luck.

While we're on the subject of ranks, Cowboys are last in the NFL in points scored.

This is a tough game to gauge. Cowboys don't look too good, but neither do we. I think our Defense takes advantage of their OL more then they do ours, and we win another ugly one... 17-14.

^^^^I would stay away from this game if I was laying down a bet. Gun to my head I would take the Cowboys to win a close one being the home team, and also the Bears being banged up in the backfield with passing game in disarray.

I found this to be interesting...

"I can't help but think that Jay Cutler performs worse during night games than daytime. Do the stats back that up?

Jared
Brisbane, Australia

With Jay Cutler preparing to play Monday night in Dallas a few weeks after struggling in a Thursday night loss in Green Bay, I've received several emails asking the same question you posed. Here's what I discovered after doing some research: Cutler has played 44 games since joining the Bears in 2009, with 13 of those contests at night (nine on the road and only four at home). Three of the four games in which Cutler has thrown four or more interceptions in his career have come at night; he threw five picks in a 2009 loss in San Francisco and four picks in defeats in Green Bay in 2009 and 2012. While those three games skew the stats, he has performed pretty well in his 10 other night games, compiling a 6-4 record while passing for 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. There seems to be more of a discrepancy in Cutler's stats in terms of home versus road rather than day versus night. He has passed for 39 TDs and 24 interceptions with an 86.8 passer rating in 24 home games and 27 TDs and 31 interceptions with a 73.1 passer rating in 20 road contests. Interestingly, Cutler has excelled on Monday Night Football, winning four of five starts. In those games, he has passed for 11 TDs and three interceptions while compiling passer ratings of 108.4, 82.5, 106.6, 99.6 and 96.9."

This is Jay Cutler's coming out party this season. He will destroy the Cowboys, and put to rest the talk of the Bears offense being overrated. Marshall will thrive, and I predict a touchdown from Hester. Whether it is a return or a reception touchdown, Hester will score, BET ON IT.

Just to let you know the Cowboys are the number defense in the NFL
