Get a new HC, OC, and bring back Ron Rivera (his contract is expiring after this season) as the defensive coordinator

Re: PG- Rookie QB slices up Bears D
Four issues that lead to Bears defeat:
-Decision to forgo FG on 4th & inches
-Earl Bennet dropped pass
-Conservative play-calling on offense in 2nd half
-Lovie Smith's prevent defense

I try to defend the Bears, but i'm done. This team is a pretender. I'd say they are 1-4 in big games this season and you can argue they've lost to the 4th best teams they've played. If you look up mediocre coach in the dictionary, Lovie Smith is there with a blank look on his face.

Re: PG- Rookie QB slices up Bears D
Then inability to tackle defensively lost this game in the end.
A plea for post scoring is a plausible Bulls plan, but plainly isn't a priority. In response to a post player's dismay about his lack of points in the paint, Paxson said.... "I'm not nearly as concerned about the offensive stuff as he is."

The O-Line plays great protection wise & we still lose at home

Now we're fighting for a wildcard spot, GB is winning the division. Gotta beat Minnesota next week, and I can't imagine the Packers losing to the Lions.

Bears beat the Vikings and Cardinals, and I think they make the playoffs. The Lions may also be in the process of completely collapsing. I think 10 wins gets you in. Now have to hope for Tampa Bay and Washington losses.

Right now we have a wild card slot. Even if TB and Wash wins, I still think we're ahead.

Guess the way to beat the Bears D is to have a running QB
TLDR: Current Pulse Readings (9/2/22)
Bulls:
UCLA Basketball:
UCLA Football: Chip Kelly magic time
Cubs: Uh, 2016
Blackhawks: Uh, 2015
Bears: Poor Justin Fields
FC Barcelona: Economic levers

The way to beat the bears d is limit the mistakes you are going to make. If Bears aren't getting TO then they aren't stopping anyone.

We usually excel against running QBs. We have always shut them down, to an extent. Vick, Cam, etc....
Our defensive strategy was bad again this week. We had no answer for San Fran, neither. These college coaches (Carrol & Harbaugh) with their college plays have hurt us & out-coached Lovie in both of those games.

Agreed that's why I want Ron Rivera back. His defensive teams could get TOs in crucial situations / stops

You're really going overboard with this Ron Rivera thing. You don't fire your entire coaching staff after one bad game. And I wouldn't even put it on the defense, they were put in a bad situation by the offense. Ron Rivera couldn't have doneanything different the last series to create a TO, because there's no playcall for that, its all up to chance. Ron Rivera isn't the solution, no one is. We have a great defense, it was a bad game.
One thing I noticed is that our WR core is very thin. Would it be mistake to draft Tyler Eifert? He seems like a Jimmy Graham type player.

Of course the receiving corps is thin. Jeffrey . Hester, and Bennett were injured. When healthy, Marshall, Jeffrey and Bennett are your three top guys; there is no reason to waste a draft pick on another receiver. We have far more important needs (O Line and replacing our aging and worn out linebackers)

Re: PG- Rookie QB slices up Bears D
Health continues to be a issue for the Chicago Bears who lost four starters due to injuries over the course of their 23-17 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Wide receiver Earl Bennett (concussion), cornerback Tim Jennings (shoulder), middle linebacker Brian Urlacher (hamstring) and free safety Chris Conte (flu) were all unable to finish the game.

Re: PG- Rookie QB slices up Bears D
we have to be careful criticizing the D. As much as i hate that soft D at times. Seattle didn't score many points. As usual, this comes down to scoring points. And we can kick around the reasons why the Bears came up short. I'm not looking at the defense right now.
