Bears 2013 Draft Predictions

Post#1 » by Jake0890 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 3:53 pm

I know it's a little early, but what are some players that the Bears would draft? Maybe trade up to get Luke Joeckel or Te'o... or stay where we are end up with a possible bust on our hands again?

I think the Jets are going to bring in Alex Smith and trade up for Te'o, I think we stay where we are and draft an olinemne. This draft is stacked with Oline. I do think since our window is small for winning a superbowl with Urlacher on the team we do need to trade future picks to get more picks in this draft.

I think Jake Mathews is the second best offensive tackle in this draft so hopefully we can get him, but anyof those left tackles would be fine in the first round. Also would like Barrett Jones in the second, but if he's not there Khaseem Green lb out of Rutgers would be great (former safety with great speed and great numbers across the board).

I see a cb and te being taken also. I think Desmond Trufant cb from Washington could fall to the 4th.
If we take Jones in the second, for a late round lb i like Michael Mauti from Penn State. If we take Greene in the second I'd like a center in the fifth but not sure who.
Sixth rounder could be a te a special teamer or somebody we take a flyer on (i.e. Marcus Lattimore or Tyrran Mathieu).

1. Lt
2. C or Lb
4. Cb
5. Lb or C
6. Wild card

If a great player like falls to us somewhere we might deviate feom this. Like if Robert Woods drops to us in the second or if Manti......pleasr please please please........drops to us in the first.

First round we go OL no matter what. The furthest deviation from this would be to take Tyler Eifert or Zach Ertz, who are both big, fast, receiving tight ends.

Second round I also think we should go OL, unless there is a steal LB, WR (Tavon Austin would be a delightful slot receiver to pair with Marshall and Jeffery), or CB.

Third round I'd say (speed) WR, CB, LB, or steal OL.

From there (and basically my approach to the whole draft) I say look for the best playmakers and stabilizers offensively, while looking for adequate talent behind aging defensive players at LB and CB. I'd also look for at least one other DL, unless we decide to address that in FA.

I think if Te'o falls to us in the first, we have to take him. If not, we draft the best O-lineman available. 2nd round we draft another o-lineman, if there is one of value left. For the rest of the draft, o think we get supplemental players such as speedy WRs, back up CBs, and maybe OLBs. I don't think we stretch with our picks and get lineman unless we want to end up with another Carimi. If we don't stretch with our picks, we'll be able to fill our line in free agency and get some nice surrounding players.

Rounds 1 and 2 based on Draft Geek Mock Draft available players

Round 1- Dallas Thomas OT/G- Dominated Clowney in the Tenn vs S. Car game until the last play.

Round 2- Robert Woods WR- I think he's the best WR in this draft but everybody has him going in the second and he can replace Hester as out slot guy.

Round 3 based on Walterfootball
Trade future pick(s) to draft Jordon Reed (TE) at pick 88

Round 4
Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. think Tyrann Mathieu could drop to the 4th. He could replace Hester as a returner and we add depth at CB.

Rounds 5 and 6
Best available between DT/LB/OL

Free Agency
OT- Jake Long, Ryan Clady. Andre Smith, Sebastian Vollmer or Will Beatty, (in order of priority)
OG- Andy Levitre or Brian Waters
OC- Ryan Lilja or Todd McClure
LB- Daryl Smith, Rey Maualuga, Philip Wheeler, Justin Durant, DeAndre Levy, or Mario Haggans
CB- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Aqib Talib, Derek Cox, Tracy Porter, or Mike Jenkins

Cuts
Hester (or restructure if he's willing)
Webb
Garza

Resign
Urlacher
Melton
Roach
Mannelly

Coaching Changes
Fire or demote Mike Tice
Sign Norv Turner as OC

I think Robert Woods should actually be a top target for us. He could bring back the return game Hester did in the past, as well as serving as a big-play threat because of speed.

The Hester we dreamed of once we got greedy.

We don't have a third round pick. We have 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6.
3 was traded for Marshall and 7 was traded for Price.

I think we should clearly be targeting OL, LB, CB, TE and possibly a WR if we can get a steal. I really want us to pursue a prove LT in free agency, but we definitely need a new LT and a new C.

for o-line I like: pretty much all of the top 6 or 7 LTs, Barrett Jones and in the late round Khaled Holmes
LB: Te'o (pipe dream), CJ Mosely, Khaseem Greene and Michael Mauti (in the late rounds for Mauti)
CB: Poyer, Desmond Trufant, Bradley Roby and Travis Howard
TE: I like Philip Lutzenkirchen as a steal in the later rounds.

I would sign a LT in free agency. If Jones is there in the 1st I take him, then Khaseem Greene or best available LB (Gerald Hodges?) in the second. CB and TE in 4 and 5, then a steal/wild card in the 6th (probably a WR).
