Re: Urlacher doesn't care about Bears Fans
That quote is being taken out of context.
Urlacher was asked about Lovie possibly being fired. He responded by defending Lovie, while saying that the fans & media are not aware of the type of job Lovie does with the team. He was mostly slamming the media (something we all do on this board) because they think that they are football "experts". The only true controversial thing that he said pertained to the fans booing the home team.
I know that we're all a little pissed at how this season is unfolding, but we should still try to be fair about his actual comments.
Trent Richardson of the Browns & Big Ben of the Steelers both criticized their coaches yesterday/today.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..
Trade his ass for a bag of chips or cut him. He's not agile anymore and definitely not quick. 2 of the things that made him great for the early part of his career.
He doesn't like getting booed? Boo hoo Urlacher. Save your feelings for a different day. This is Football.

As bad as the bears are, I still think its out of line for the fans to boo the team off the field.

As a life long Bears fan why not boo them you play like crap every big game they had this year they got there hat handed to them it's mostly being out coached.

I'd never boo my team, but I don't care what others choose to do. As the fans comment... it was out of line. I know he's defending his coach, but he said he doesn't care about the fans. Maybe it's poor word choice on his part, but he should know better. He's a veteran. That's a pretty easy question to answer without offending the people who have had your back for over a decade.

First this is taken way out of context
Second, he's not overrated. Maybe you overrated him, but for the most part people understand that physically he's not the same player but his leadership is not replaceable.

Re: Urlacher doesn't care about Bears Fans
I think the only way Lovie loses his job is if they miss the playoffs and it might not even happen then. Lovie is a great head coach. I could see the FO firing all of his assistants and hiring their own and keeping Smith.
If Smith does get fired I think we should hire Rex Ryan, Norv Turner, and Bill Cowher.
Ryan and turner are both great coordinators but bad head coaches. Someone said that they don't want Turner because he handled Rivers poorly, but I wouldn't blame Turner for that Rivers was just trying to hard and that resulted in poor play.
The reason I think Cowher hasn't taken a HC job yet is because the right team hasn't been available, but I think a Bears team is one he'd be interested in.

Briggs agrees:
"Obviously, some people think the way it came off, they might be upset about it," Briggs said. "I understand where he's coming from. I've been here for a long time, too, and I've seen a lot of boos, for a lot of wrong reasons. Nobody, on any team I've ever been on, gets booed more at home than here in Chicago.

Exactly. People are getting their panties in a bunch because one of the greatest Bears of all time said the media is stupid for thinking Lovie Smith is the only one to blame for the slide, and that fans that agree with them also don't know what's going on.

Re: Urlacher doesn't care about Bears Fans
The following post is from the Bulls board:
This is similar to Urlacher's comment regarding the media/fans viewpoint of Lovie Smith. I don't see a thread on the Bulls board or an ESPN article condemning Coach Thibodeau and/or Sam Smith for "not caring about Bulls fans".
Just to be clear: This post of mine is designed to show the hypocrisy of the media/fans in regard to Urlacher's comments. I'm not typing this to defend Lovie, considering that I'm not happy about certain aspects of his coaching.
unknownnewbie wrote:This was in Sam Smith's column:"It also was a sharp effort from Hinrich, who had been the subject of various fan and media criticism lately. To which Thibodeau expressively disagreed.
“Finally you (media) guys recognized that,” Thibodeau said of Hinrich’s play. “The guy has been playing good all season. He’s got our second highest plus/minus. You guys keep talking about what he’s not doing. All I keep seeing is him playing well. Look at how he shot the ball over the last 10 games prior to tonight. He’s shooting 47 from three. You guys are saying he’s not shooting well. He’s doing a great job of running our team. That’s what I do know.”
"One issue with the public and media regarding Hinrich is not understanding he is asked by Thibodeau to play something of a sacrificial role. In the way the Bulls defend the pick and roll, which is the primary offense of most teams with Phil Jackson not in the league, Hinrich has to be in position to follow the ballhandler through so the Bulls defense can set and protect the basket and have help guys in the corner to protect against the three. As a result, it’s generally Hinrich’s man who has the opening off the screen, and why point guards have scored well against the Bulls.
It’s the old theory of having to give up something. The Bulls defense is geared to defend the paint for the layup and the corner for the three, the most efficient ways to score along with free throws. Thibodeau’s philosophy is to primarily protect against those opportunities. So you need a very good defensive point guard, which is why Thibodeau pushed so hard last summer for the team to sign Hinrich."

Brian doent care for negative critism from media or fans. Who can blame him?
But during a meltdown season like this; its gonna happen. Still cant throw the fans under the bus.
They arent the ones running next to rbs hoping they run out of bounds.

What I don't care for, is Brian picking people up after he tackles them. There I said it.
