In case you thought this game was going to be easy....here is another "planned" wrinkle for you....Its so much better that I am not a participant now

BREAKING NEWS: MELTON REJECTS OFFER SEEKS UFA

LAKE FOREST - Chicago Bears flagship station WBBM-AM reports that owner of the Bears and Bears’ Board Mod Emperorjones says the team made a multiyear contract offer to Henry Melton this week, but it was rejected. According to Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the Bears' GEeneral Manager made an offer to the fourth-year DT out of Texas that was a lucrative $32.5 million deal that would have paid Melton just over $6.2 million in year one.. "Henry was the only player we targeted, and we made him, in my opinion, a very lucrative offer, and it wasn't able to get done," Emperorjones said. "Our intent is still to have Henry play the bulk of his years in Chicago, and we'll just have to wait and see." Melton, who tied for third among NFL defensive tackles last season with six sacks, has been outspoken most of the season about wanting a new contract. He told "NBC Sports Talk" last Friday: "I feel like if I was on any other team ... and you then produce well enough the past four years ... that it would be easy to really get a deal done. I'm not really sure what the problem is." The Bears could put the franchise tag on Melton next season, paying him about $8.45 million.

When asked if the Bears would use the Franchise tag, Emperorjones responded – that’s up to our GM. All player personnel decisions are in his hands. I have full faith in his management of the roster and the salary cap of this team.

YOUR ISSUE:

Now that Melton has walked on your $6.2 million offer you can do one of 3 things.

1. Nothing. Keep your offer as is. However, if the real Chicago Bears don’t work out an extension for Melton before July 31 that is equal to or less than your offer for the average of the real Melton contract, Melton walks and leaves you with nothing. The $6.2 million you offered will be a hold against your cap in Round 2 Free Agency.

2. Place the Franchise tag on Melton. If you do this, Melton will cost you $8.45 against the cap through Round 2 regardless of what the outcome is with the Bears. If the Bears work out a deal before July 31 that is less than the cap number in year 1, you pick up any excess to use on remaining unsigned FA at that point (Round 4)

3. Renounce Melton’s rights. Melton Walks and you gain $6.2 million on your cap that you reserved for him.

You have one week to decide. :naaa:

$6.2 million was my original amount used to sign Melton.

I take on your challenge of the franchise tag amount of $8.45 million.

$8.45 million - $6.2 million = $2.25 million more subtracted from my money remaining for free-agents.

You are allowed to cut additional players at this point, however you cannot cut any players you resigned in round 1. I will put this in a separate note

No. The only thing you can do at this point is make additonal cuts. However you cannot cut players that you resigned in round 1. Assume players that you chose not to resign have signed with other teams.

Send it by PM

I also need to know if James Brown and Edwin Williams are on the roster for our game for the purposes of depth. They're not listed on the roster posted in the Game Rules thread.

Then they are probably not in the game.
