This is my first post. Long-time Bears fan.

Here's what I'd do over the rest of this off-season.

I'll save the original post, and have it up after the game.

trades aren't very common in the NFL...

Carimi and Paea might be worth a 5th round pick. Maybe.

Not worth drafting those tackles that late in the draft. They're no better than any of the ones that we have. We get one early in the draft (1st round) or not at all.

I strongly disagree with you Jake. Chris Faulk was viewed as by far the best offensive lineman in collge until he tore his ACL early in the season. He wouldve easily been the #1 pick this draft if not for the injury. He should've stayed in school another year

I was aware of Faulk's injury history, and figured he's worth a flyer in the 4th round. Even if he becomes a starting guard, he'd be a good pick. The best option would be for Long or Faulk to move Webb to right tackle (where he may be more suited).

As for the first round, I am more of the opinion that getting Ansah would be good - if only to have an option should the Bears be unable to restructure Peppers' contract. Tavon Austin is too exciting to pass up. I've seen him play - he's Devin Hester with refined skills on offense.

The top seven slots on the 2013 D-Line would likely break down this way:
DE: Peppers, Wooton (starters); Ansah, McClellin
DT: Idjonie, Melton (starters); Okoye

Figure Toeaina and Ozougwu round out the D-line, with Ansah replacing Peppers in 2014 if Da Bears need cap room.

If they can re-structure the deal or extend Peppers with a Tom Brady-style extension, the Bears have a LOT of options. Rotating Peppers, Wooton, and Ansah as the three-down ends, McClellin as the third-down rusher, and a rotation of Idjonie, Wooton, and Okoye at defensive tackle should make for a VERY good D-Line.

Trades are hard, but I do like the idea of dealing Bush and resigning Bell. I think we're just not able to get what we paid for with Chester Taylor....I mean Marion Barber....I mean Michael Bush. Big money on backup RB has not been kind to us.

That $3 million, I think, lands Da Bears a TE like Brandon Myers. 79 receptions for 806 yards is good for second on Da Bears. Add that to Escobar, and now Cutler has options for the middle of the field.

Guess where Brandon Marshall can go? Deep.

Also, dealing Bush and cutting Davis will allow for the Bears to sign Dietrich-Smith (to replace Garza) and Rob Thomas (who plays RT, G, and C).

Starting O-Line: Webb, Garza, Dietrich-Smith, Louis, Kyle Long

Made a few edits to add some free-agent signings, cuts, etc.
