Bears released DT Matt Toeaina.
Toeaina was set to make $760,000 in 2013 base salary, $290,000 in roster bonuses and a $75,000 workout bonus. That's too much for a bit player who played in just three games last year due to a knee injury. He reportedly declined a pay cut.

So how much money are these three cuts saving the Bears?
Davis - $2.5 M
Spaeth - $1.65 M
Toeaina - $0.76 M
Total - $4.91 M
I think those are the numbers. Anybody got other numbers?

I don't understand cutting Toeaina. He played well when he was healthy, and he isn't making that much money. Plus when he was on the field it looked like Joakim Noah was playing for the Bears. I'll root for him as long as he stays away from the Packers, Vikings, and Lions.

Toeaiana was cut to sign Collins at the same price (vet minimum). Salary neutral upgrade. I don't doubt that he could be back if we don't find more depth at DT to our liking on the cheap.

Toeina only played 3 games last year. At this point cutting all non necessary contracts gives the bears more cap room.
