Welcome to round 3 of the Super Bowl game - Draft Edition.

****If you have not turned in your round 2 free agent selections, you have 2 weeks (Wednesday April 24th)****

For round 3, you will be allowed to TRADE draft picks (not players). Prior to the draft, you will be allowed to move up or down in any round of the draft. We will be using the standard NFL Draft Value Chart to make trades. A copy of the chart can be found here:

http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php

The chart works on a point system. Every draft pick is allotted a certain point value. The difference in points is what you would either have to give up to move up in the draft, or what you could receive by moving down in the draft. For example:

If as bears GM, you wanted to move up in the draft from #20 to #10 in the first round, examine the chart. The #20 pick has a value of 850 points. The #10 pick has a value of 1,300 points. In order to make that trade happen, you'd have to give the team holding the #10 pick 450 points more than your 1st round pick is worth. The trade would be: Your 1st round pick at #20 (850 points) plus your 2nd round pick #50 (400 points) and your 5th round pick #153 (30.2 points) to get to 1280.2 points.

That's short of the 1300 points total needed, but I would allow it as its within +/-3% (my rule, not the NFL's )

Likewise, if you wanted to move down from the #20 pick, to say the 30th pick in the 1st round, you would be able to trade with the team holding the 30th pick (620 points) and also receive whatever combination of picks from that team that added up to the 230 point difference between the #20 and #30 picks. Keep in mind that the picks have to come from one team - no 3 team trades, so you'll have to look carefully to make sure you can get the value you want from the team you are trying to trade with.

Assume all teams want to trade with you for any combination of picks, so long as you are within 3% of the total points required.

All trades must be submitted prior to the actual NFL draft.

Our draft will be 7 rounds

After the NFL draft, we will will use the ACTUAL NFL player draft order to make our selections. meaning, if you are sitting at #20 and you wanted to draft Jonathan Cooper (G/C, North Carolina) but in the actual draft he's taken at #18 by the Cowboys, he will be considered off the board and you will not be able to select him in our draft at #20. Thus, if you really want Cooper, prior to the draft, you might want to trade up to a position that you think would let you nab him on draft day, So position your draft picks wisely.

To determine a "grade" for the draft, we will be using the NFL.com scouting rankings.

The NFL.com ratings state whether a given player is a star player, solid starter, future starter, or roll player. Thus, we have an impartial view as to whether or not a player that Biggie drafts can actually be considered a starter at Linebacker or if he's really just a project that Biggie is trying to convince us is the next Brian Urlacher. :D

I did have some draft-day trades, but they involved players, and couldn't go through.

Here they are:
For instance, WalterFootball.com notes that the Panthers still need a DT and RT and RG:
Therefore, I'd like to trade them OT Gabe Carimi and DT Stephen Paea for their 1st and 4th-round picks in 2013 (#14, #105 overall).
http://walterfootball.com/offseason2013car.php

Similarly, Pittsburgh needs an upgrade at RB. I think Michael Bush nets a 3rd-round pick. Let's call it Bush to the Steelers for the #79 pick overall.
http://walterfootball.com/offseason2013pit.php

Perhaps the one trade I initially wanted to make that may not happen is the trade of WR Edgar Bennett to Miami. But I would like to instead trade him to the Jets for the #72 pick overall, since the Jets have not made any moves at WR.
http://walterfootball.com/offseason2013nyj.php

Sadly, I couldn't get them through based on the rules, but... if I had `em, I can promise a VERY interesting draft for Da Bears.

I was able to draft primarily best player available while also getting a reliable speed receiver and center of the future in round 4 (Boyce and Patton). I didn't draft any guards or tackles because I signed so many with talent in free agency, so I opted to bolster the aging CB group and young TE group in rounds two and three instead.

35 – CB Jamar Taylor 85.5
50 – LB Arthur Brown 90.3
83 – TE Jordan Reed 80.5
102 – WR Josh Boyce 72.2
117 – C Khaled Holmes 71
118 – WR Quinton Patton 83.8
136 – DT Jesse Williams 85.5
155 – DE Brandon Jenkins 82.9
213 – CB Jordan Poyer 74
226 – QB Zac Dysert 83.5
230 – OT Reid Fragel 77
239 – LB Chase Thomas 79.4
240 – FS Tony Jefferson 73.2
251 – RB Dennis Johnson 70
