[PREGAME ARTICLES TO COME]

Last Time They Played:
--------------------------------------------
Oct 25, 2009 CIN 45, CHI 10
CINCINNATI -- The Bears' 45-10 loss to the Bengals on Sunday challenged the axiom that it is better to give than receive.

The Bengals received to the tune of five touchdown catches. The Bears gave way beyond the point where it hurt.

And there was no question who got the better of this deal.

If giving the Bengals the running back who leads the NFL in rushing and a starting defensive tackle weren't enough, the Bears also spotted their opponent 31 points before they scored a meager field goal at the end of the half.

It might have been Cedric Benson.

Great to to have a pregame thread so early in the week.

Any bright ideas for beating the Bengals?

Run the ball.
Limit turnovers.
Get turnovers.
Keep QB clean.

:D

We need to win time of possession. With Green, Gresham and Eifert they can put up a lot of points in a hurry. Our defensive backs need to keep them from breaking loose.

First: Geno Atkins is possibly the best DT in the league.
Second: Gresham at the moment is better than Eifert.
Third: They have one of the best O-lines in the league thanks to Whitworth, Smith and Zeitler especially.
Fourth: Leon Hall is a top corner coming off an ACL.
Fifth: Both their DEs are nice.
Finally: Top to bottom, they have a better roster right now. It comes down to Cutler vs Dalton. I'd pick the Bears because I prefer Cutler at home over Dalton on the road.

Bears seem more talented to me. Is there anyone on the Bengals im not giving a fair shake. I admit i dont follow them and most of their roster sems likes guys i never heard of.

First: Geno Atkins is possibly the best DT in the league. - Well now i know why i bolded him.
Second: Gresham at the moment is better than Eifert.
- Agreed.

Third: They have one of the best O-lines in the league thanks to Whitworth, Smith and Zeitler especially. - I hear that but their running game isnt heralded. And i like the Bears Dline vs almost anybody.
Fourth: Leon Hall is a top corner coming off an ACL. - Healthy dose of Marshall.
Fifth: Both their DEs are nice. - Then we Need a Big game from Bushrod Mills and TEs to seal the edges.
Finally: Top to bottom, they have a better roster right now. It comes down to Cutler vs Dalton.
I'd pick the Bears because I prefer Cutler at home over Dalton on the road.

Should be a good one. The Bears are 3.5 point favorites at home, and I'd imagine the majority of money is on the Bengals which bodes well for us. The defense should be fine, but I'd like to see a crisp, efficient offense from Cutler. I'm very worried about starting the season with a home loss.

I'm conflicted with this game. On one hand, I think the Bears D looks primed and can have a big game. On the other hand, the preseason game that mattered was against Oakland. I was also impressed by even the 'vanilla' play calling that they did in the preseason games that looked 10x more creative than the last few years. On the other hand, if that was their vanilla offense, then we still have yet to see if they can run the prime time offense.

This will be a nice measuring stick for how much farther the Bears need to go. I expect the defense to play well and only really break if the offense coughs up the ball in bad spots. Obviously, with Cincy's D-Line, the focus will be quick timing throws - which can blow up and lead to quick 3 and outs or turnovers.

If the defense can deliver like it usually does and special teams can help on field position, I think the Bears have a good shot to win. I just don't imagine this offense clicking right out of the gate.
