Roster Re-shape

We should have a thread about our new roster since there is a lot of turnover. Hall of Famer and face of the franchise replaced with a rookie. Two players from Emery's first draft class are cut. We've got ten rookies, three of whom will be starting.

A deal with the Dallas Cowboys is pending a physical for veteran Dante Rosario, according to multiple sources. Todd Archer of ESPN.com reported the Bears will give the Cowboys a conditional seventh-round pick in 2014.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/fo ... 8609.storyIt will be interesting to see if the team keeps four tight ends and fullback Tony Fiammetta on the 53-man roster or if they make a cut from that group to add Rosario. One source said that was the team’s plan.
Fiametta or Adams the odd man out?

The guy's name is Bass. Had 11.5 sacks last year, 40.5 over his college career I believe. It's all in the link
Bringing this over from the other thread since he is actually on the 53-man roster. David Bass played four years at Missouri Western and put up some good numbers. Here's a link to his combine results and analysis so everybody can get more familiar with him.

Here's that link showing every player cut in the NFL to get down to the 53-man limit.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000 ... -nfl-teamsLike I've already said, I'd really like to bring in Velasco and Leonhard if he is healthy.

I'm loving the risk of going with 10 rookies. Last years draft class overall is pretty sad with only 3 sticking on the roster in year 2.
This year's class looks like a home run.

Not really accurate. D.J. Williams is back and while he might not start week one, but I guess his coverage skills vs Bostic's will have him starting in week 2 or 3. If not, then we really hit a homerun with Bostic!

Its interesting to do a side by side with Cornelius Washington. It looks like CW is a lot more physically gifted, but just hadn't been as productive (although he was on an SEC defense with Jarvis Jones and Alec Ogletree cannibalizing some of his potential numbers):

Just watching some of the highlight tape it looks like Bass got a lot of his sacks from the QB holding the ball really long, which I think won't happen in the NFL.
Washington I think has a lot more upside but doesn't have the moves that Bass has right now. With good coaching Washinton can hopefully contribute midway through the season.

Here's a link to Emery discussing the roster composition and the turnover.
http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/ ... 5661293869He mentions that he wants to have this many rookies on the roster every year and that he needs to do a better job of acquiring more draft picks. The youth movement will continue.

I wonder if Briggs and Tillman could get low ball offers or just not be brought back.

I think that if they keep producing then Emery will try to keep them. He spent a good amount of time praising the 10-year-plus club. Also said having original Bears is important to him. If they decline, they're gone unless they take a paycut. I think Emery is a no-nonsense type of guy.
Not sure if you watched the video, but it provides a lot of insight so I reccomend it to anyone who hasn't yet.

Interesting move. Cut Scott and re-signed Kyle Adams. I guess Scott's knee isn't holding up. I'm not too thrilled about Britton being the backup LT. I don't think he has enough quickness after all those injuries.
