julius thomas

Post#1 » by Brick Tamland » Fri Sep 6, 2013 6:42 pm

it took the broncos 3 years to develop him. prior to last nights game, thomas only had 1 catch for 5 yards on his resume. he bounced around the broncos practice squad for 3 years. bears have a similar player on their practice squad right now and just like thomas, fendi onobun is also a former basketball player and only had 1 year football experience before he got drafted. both guy have similar size and athleticism of the charts. bears just need to be patient with fendi, maybe hopefully next year, this dude can shine and be the next julius thomas for DA BEARS..

Fend only real problem seems to be he needs to learn how to hold on to the ball. Hopefully he can fix that.

you're right, fendi uses his height and athleticism to get open but he just cant seem to handle the ball. but when he does catch the ball, he is very fast for a big guy. trestman and company needs to be patient with this guy just like elway and fox did to thomas. you can teach somebody to catch a football, you cant teach height and athleticism.

Yeah and Carl Lewis cant throw a baseball 20 feet. Tyrus Thomas and Taj Gibson two of the most physically gifted people on earth are lucky to hit the rim shooting open 15 footers with nobody on their side of the floor.

The world is filthy with guys who can run track and long jump all day long at an elite level but couldn't play football to save their lives or they would be doing it.

We all know some people can't catch objects flying through the air. Or cant run good routes. Just can't do it. That's why the game has cornerbacks and safeties. And Devin Hester. Dont over think it. With tbose measurables if he had any actual potential he wouldn't have bounced around practice squads because his upside would be tremendous.Trestman can hope for a miracle all he wants. God isn't listening.

True. Hands... you either have them or you don't.

Although, I think guys can become better shooters in basketball. You can learn to shoot but you cannot learn to catch.

The difference this time is that the Bears won't be relying on him as the starting TE like a certain player we had last year that couldn't catch and would always fall down.

true fendi did bounced around but so did thomas. the only difference is that both elway and fox believed in thomas and was patient with him. all im saying is that if trestman and emery follow what the broncos did, fendi might turn out to be ok...

im sorry but i disagree with that statement. i think you can also teach somebody to catch, it just takes patient and hard work. even you can each a monkey how to catch. just look at tim jennings, the said the reason why he led the league in interception was because he on the jugs machine during the offseason honing his hands. thats why teams invest money on jugs machine. anybody can improve on something, it just need time, patient and hard work. it took julius thomas 3 years and a lot of hard work. from what im reading, the coaching staff is really impress with fendi's work ethic. even martellus is working with him because he was in the same boat before when he was at dallas. the reason dallas cut him was because he couldnt catch.
