Saints roster- Depth chart

The reason i say its not as bad as it looks is because at first mention of this game it seems like a heavily lopsidded affair towards the visitors, but upon review of roster and depth chart the game seems more manageable than originally thought.

How is that u say? Well the Saints seem to be without playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. So since the Bears will be at home there will be potential for the offense.

Its the Saints offense that will keep us up at night. Not necessarily stacked with talent but they have Brees. His weapons will be Graham (TE), Colston and Lance Moore who happen to be his starting Wrs..

The saints Rb position while having potential would be average at best starting Pierre Thomas.

Jabri Greer and Malcolm Jenkins are both huge play makers. Jenkins is one of the most underrated players in the NFL. I think he's in the same class as Barry and Thomas. The Saints pass rush is one of the best in the NFL this season. And they got Curtis Lofton in the middle leading the defense. Last night they didn't even blitz that much and they still got to the QB against a very good olines, one of the best, imo.

Since the schedule was released I thought this would be our first loss, now I think it'll be our second. Their defense is a million times better than it was last year. I do think Jay will have a good game but I expect an interception to this playmaking defense. I think Jay will have a tough time in the pocket against this pass rush.

Bush was a huge problem in the passing game for us against the Lions and Sproles, I think, will be a bigger one but not the big of issue in the ground game. I think this will be the fifth week in a row were our defense gets chopped up. I do, however, think the pass rush shows up this week against a fairly average NO oline

31-38 Saints.

Saints are tied with the Jags for lowest TD percentage in the redzone. That kinda effects my score outcome since the bears lets the teams get to the redzone then play great defense from there on out. I still think Brees will make enough plays to win.

Drew Brees has the potential to eat this Bears D alive if they don't generate a better pass rush with the defensive line. He has a quick release, accuracy, and big targets in Colston and Graham. Also, their D looks pretty good this year.

On the other hand, I'm a big believer in the benefits of playing at home and having an extra day to rest and prepare. This game is going to be an enormous test. But maybe Kromer has a little knowledge to drop.

Dude those guys dont jump off the page is my point. Especially considered the matchups of our offense vs these players. Ie marshall vs Greer and stuff like that. Collectively the saints d is playing better than given credit for by me initially but individually they are not exactly overly talented or even have one or two more guys that would stand out.
Collectively yes they have been a tough unit as they are ranked number 6 overall.

Huge play maker? really? http://www.pro-football-reference.com/p ... eeJa22.htm <--Greer

Its not all about the pass rush imo. Even if the rush shows up bruh how good has the coverage been down field? Especially in the middle of the field. Aj green, greg Jennings, Antonio Brown come to mind.

Greer we probably don't have to worry about since we got Marshall but he's still arguably a top 10 CB which is something since there are so many great CBs in the NFL. You definitely can't overlook Jenkins. That boy is elite.

It's about the pass rush. Specifically, its about the pass rush from the DL. When you have to rely on LBs to get pressure on the quarterback, you get gashed by guys like Reggie Bush. And when qbs have time to let plays develop downfield when you don't blitz (because on 3rd downs, the LBs are on a mission to prevent short completions to RBs and TEs) then you get gashed by guys like Antonio Brown and AJ Green. Could the coverage be better? Sure. Although watching the games, Antonio Brown and AJ Green earned their yards for the most part... you have to give credit where its due. But to answer your question... yes, its about the pass rush, specifically the pass rush from the front four. When you get a pass rush from those guys and you have the luxury of having a LB drop back to cover the middle of the field and another to shadow a RB and the qb has to get the ball off before WRs can even be in position to make circus grabs... the entire machine seems to look a ton better.

Op delete thread and let emperor jones make it. Last week you made it and we lost. The bears are 3-0 when EJ makes it.

ok obviously i cant dispute the necessity of the pass rush. Sure it helps everything. Unfortunately in this case tho even if we do get desired rush, the execution on the backend still leaves something to be desired. Basically is what i meant.

This the whole premise of the thread is ridiculous. This is one of the most talented teams in the NFL. We would have to play a damn near perfect game.

I say delete! Emperorjones we need your threads!

'Dont get ahead of yourself kiddo. The New Orleans saints roster u are boasting about is almost the same as last year when they sucked! Without any probowlers on their defense not even an alternate and only drew brees on the offense who was an alternate for the probowll, not even a starter or reserve.

The saints are practically a super team. Where do i get off?

Using your logic players like Tillman, Jennings, Briggs, Conte, and Wright aren't play-makers since our defense is getting shredded.

This adoins kid. Yo last year they had how many head coaches? How many of them knew what they were doing? And did they have a veteran mlb that leads the defense? What youre saying that since these players underperformed last year, they are complete garbage? Dude...what the hell are you talking about
