The Chicago Bears agreed to terms on a two-year contract with safety Ryan Mundy, the club announced.
Mundy appeared in 16 games (nine starts) for the New York Giants last season, where he recorded a career-high 70 tackles, one sack and one interception. The 6-foot-1, 209-pound safety played four years (2009-12) for the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting five combined games during that stretch.
Mundy was selected by the Steelers in the sixth-round of the 2008 NFL draft out of West Virginia.

WHat's the feeling from people here on how he'll fit in our plans? Is Mundy a Strong Safety? Insurance/replacement plan for Major's likely departure? Or is he possible competition to Conte at FS and insurance/back-up for Steltz possible departure?
Personally, deciding to go big FA-wise on the d-line, something tells me Ha-Ha or Darqueze will be the first round targets.
Still though, think we're in a good place. Still high on Timmy Jernigan, but feel at least we'll get one of these three

My preference would be to draft Timmy Jernigan in the first, and go secondary ( safety) in round 2. I thought Zach Bowman did a good job feeling for Tillman last year. We should look to retain him. I would like to see two new starters at both safety positions. Maybe Mundy can feel one.

My guy is still Justin Gilbert. But if we went DL... Hageman intrigues me. Honestly though, there are like 13 defensive players I'd be happy with at 14. What I like about Gilbert though is the fact that he could replace both Tillman and Hester. He was an excellent producer at both corner and as a returner.
