Speaks volumes as to what they think of Eric Weems and Josh Morgan in the 3rd receiver role until Wilson comes back.

I'd have gotten him anyhow.

Holmes is a quantum upgrade at 3rd WR.

Facing him, Marshall, AND Alshon Jeffrey?

*Begin Ron Swanson laugh*

I think it also speaks volumes about what they thought of Weems as a return guy. I know there's concern about what Holmes will be like in the locker room, but when you have leaders on the receiving corps like Marshall and Jeffrey, I think they'll have the insulation to deal with it. Good move in my opinion.

Good pick up.

He should compliment the big brothers theory well. He was playing a with a foot injury last year that limited him. Hopefully he is fully recovered and will offer some consistent veteran play from the 3rd WR position.

By the way

To make room for Holmes, the Bears terminated the contract of veteran receiver Eric Weems.

wildly optimistic. This reminds me of Roy Williams. I was sure that wouldn't work, and there were the wild optimists back then too. This only has a slightly better chance of working because part of the excuse may have been an injury. And smarter people concerning offense are at the helm now.

Holmes does not figure to be over whatever has stuffed his career in New York. Number 1, he didn't look good enough during workouts for the Bears to sign him earlier this month over some no name scrub they signed instead. But now they are getting more frustrated. This is a desperate move, like betting your last hundred bucks in Vegas to strike gold. Desperate people don't win in Vegas.

The Bears must have nothing behind the first 3 guys when they reach for moves like this. Maybe drafting a punter instead of a receiver looks like an egregious error about now.

Roy wasn't brought on to be #3 though

I'm good with this signing as well. As has been said, there is the possibility that he may be a problem in the locker-room, but I'm confident we have the people and organization in place to handle that if it should happen. On the field, he represents a nice upgrade over Weems in my opinion, and I look forward to seeing what he can do along with Marshall, Jeffrey, Wilson and Bennett when everyone is healthy.

If his time off has allowed his foot to heal, then i think he will be outstanding for us in the slot role.

He's saying all the right things. If somebody can tell me why the Bears rejected him at first after his workouts, I could be more optimistic

We don't know if they rejected him or perhaps he was waiting around to see if someone like Andre Johnson got hurt and the Texans got desperate to give him a bigger role. That's probably more likely.

Can he be our punt and kick returner?
