Peanut Tillman Appreciation Thread

Been rooting for this man since 2003 and it's been weighing on me ever since they panned to him on the sidelines Sunday night. 11 years is a long time when you think about it and Peanut has been extraordinary for the entire go round.

From his first massive high on the field in 2003 when he stole the ball away from Randy Moss in endzone, late in the 4th quarter in a meaningless game.

To Steve Smith torching him in the 2005 playoffs when everybody and their brother were down on him.

To his incredible ability to take the ball away from opposing players with what we now all know now as the Peanut Tillman ball punch.

Image

To how beautifully he's been able to shut down the most imposing wide receiver in all of football over the past 5 years.

Image

And finally to what a great man he's shown himself to be off of the field. In a time where we've seen far too many players do the unspeakable, Peanut has been a pillar in the community which so badly needs it.

I hope this isn't the last we see of you in the Blue & Orange but if it is, it's been a hell of a ride.

Great thread.

Hope he's ok. Doesn't deserve to go out like this now.

He was as great of a man and teammate as he was a player. One of the easiest athletes on the planet to root for.

He's been on the team for as long as I've been seriously following Bears football.

Little story, I was in New Orleans for the super bowl a couple years ago. He was supposed to show up at one of the events to take pictures/sign autographs. He never showed up. I sent him an angry tweet (the only tweet I've ever made lol). He never replied. Turns out he was doing some pre game show. Oh well.

I'll miss him. One of my favorite players ever.

I remember back when I started to really get into football and Tillman was paired up with Nate Vasher at CB for us... That seems like a million years ago, but Tillman has been great right up until his injury. I really hope this isn't the last we see of Peanut, even if he only comes back in a reduced role or something. He's been an awesome player, teammate and citizen for this team for a lot of years, and I'd hate to see his career end this way.
