Dont forget Bass at OLB.

But don't you need a ton of OLs in a 3-4? If we sign Mason, I'd count that as a total of 16 DLs & LBs.

In a 4-3 we'd carry 8/9 DLs and 5/6 LBs (13-15 total) - If we add a NT in the draft, we'd be at 17 then it looks like 2-3 cuts coming?

Washington, Bass & Greene at greatest risk

I think we will add 1 or 2 NTs and cut 2-4. I think Bass will earn a lot of snaps as a pass rushing OLB. I think Allen and McClellin are as likely to get cut as anyone. McClellin hasn't performed even though he's been given every opportunity. Allen is the 2nd highest paid player in the roster this year at $12M and he is declining and has stated he doesn't want to play OLB. Greene is definitely a candidate to get cut but he is a true 3-4 ILB so he may surprise us. Same for Washington as a 3-4 DE plus he is an athletic freak.

Pace keeps doing it the right way. No need to break the bank or commit long term to any of these one year deal players all while filling needs for this season.

According NFLPA the Bears have a little more than $11 million left in cap space.

Well it seems that number may drop by one. Reports say that we've declined McCellin's option, which if I understand correctly means that either he shows a dramatic improvement in this coming season or he's gone.

Oh, and I just read that we are apparently "entertaining offers" for Martellus Bennett as well. It would depend on what we got in return, of course, but personally I'd like to see him stay. We already need another quality WR and are reportedly considering using the #7 pick on one, so I don't see how we'd benefit from adding a new passing threat in the draft but then giving one away in Bennett.
