Ndamukong Suh is apparently leaning towards free agency in 2015 and the Chicago Bears are among those keen on landing him.

The Detroit Lions and Ndamukong Suh are planning on this being their final season together.

Suh has told people in the past that he would love to play in New York, and the idea of it has huge appeal to him, league sources said.

According to the Sports Mockery site we will have 33.6 mil in cap. He's probably going to get a deal starting around 12 mil so that would leave plenty of space to fill up other defensive holes.

I listed these in another thread but I would like to add these players as well;
Brandon Spikes plays the pass well enough and is arguably the best run stopping LB in the NFL.
Tashaun Gipson is becoming a great DB fast. He plays the zone amazingly and can hit for a small guy
Walter Thrumond III. He has the ability to be a starter but he has his off-field issues so he might not get that opportunity. He'd be great in the nickle for us.

Rolle is also a FA but idk if we can afford him and Suh. If we can I'd prefer him to Gibson.

If we re-sign Paea and add Suh that's one hell of a combo

Football wise if there were no cap, this would be a no brainer. He'd change the character of the DL in a hurry.

The reality is, when he becomes a FA, he will be the DT version of Julius Peppers when he became a free agent. I don't mean this in a bad way, but it is the best analogy. He'll be one of the top 2-3 players at his position for the first year or two of the contract, he'll regress some over the term of the contract but will still be pretty good. The trouble is, that contract will be $15M/year +/-.

If you have a team that is great at drafting where you don't have to worry about finding all of your key guys in free agency, you could afford to splurge on a guy like Suh. The best drafting team in the league would be hard pressed to find a DT like him available to them in a given draft. But if you need to make your bones in FA, the cost of a player like Suh probably hamstrings you and keeps you from contending.

So, who are the Bears under Emery? Are we good at drafting or not? So far, it's debatable. Some of these guys look promising, but I'm still not blown away by the results.

Emery usually gets really good bargains in free agency to fill out the roster. That will make a giant contract more bearable. Angelo didn't get any deals, so when he got the high priced free agents too it really stretched the cap

Suh would be a good pick up. Allen's salary will be gone soon so I don't see this signing hindering the future cap.

On that note, we're also still paying Julius Peppers salary for the year. The only downside is soon Alshon will get paid.

Very good point. We will probably look to extend him after the season

Should of got him instead of that debacle of signing guys who fit Martz's offense.

He could be the only guy on the line and still be an improvement of what we have.

If the Giants make the playoffs I'm predicting he signs there.

Willie Young is pushing for Suh to join him in Chicago. So we'll have to see.

Problem with Suh IMO is you really force yourself into a position that you have to spend two of your top 3 picks on DBs and really hit on them. And you wouldn't have addressed LB still which needs additional help.

On the flip side you can probably sign two starters, a FS, and CB/Nickel with what it would take to get Suh. That puts you in a real good spot to grab the best impact defensive player available in the draft . We have a decent DT rotation as is, and we want to have flexibility to grab the best D players available in the draft.

Even though it says we have 33M, you have to account for resigning guys, the draft pool, and other depth signings.
