I feel like there is a good amount of available talent out to be traded for and since we need a lot of that talent I thought I'd make a thread for us to discuss some options.

Option one: Kam Chancellor for obvious reasons. The only problem that I can tell from people on this board his to old for our current roster set up. I disagree with this idea since with a guy like Kam he cuts the rebuilding time in half.

Option two: Cordarrelle Patterson He was drafted to be the replacement to Percy Harvin. His rookie season it really looked like he was going to do a pretty good job at replacing Harvin. However, his second season was completely different and the coaching staff seemed to completely lose faith in him and it doesn't look like that has changed coming into this season with him only doing kick returns against the 49ers. He has an explosive talent that I think Gase can maximize on the field.

One guy I think we can trade for at the deadline is eric weddle but only if the Chargers are really bad and we are making noise in the position. His age however would be an even bigger question than Kam's.

Also, if we are winning in spite of Cutler we could trade for Hoyer

No one will take Cutler if he's not playing well. The only way I can see him traded is if he plays well enough that someone is willing to offer us at least a 2nd round pick. But the only reason we would do that is if we still are not winning despite Cutler playing at basically a pro bowl level.

Those guys would cost early draft picks (2nd and 3rd rounders probably) so I would pass. Bears need to work on getting young talent that they can start stock piling. Pace did a good job this draft that potentially could result in 5 guys being NFL quality. He is likely better at it than what we have had in the past 10 years or so.

We need a FULL rebuild and to do better in the draft...and no more bizarre signings....At the time cutting Peppers and signing Jared Allen without using hindsight was a lateral move at the very best, now it seems was just stupid..

The Bears aren't going to trade Cutler. If they were going to do so, they would have long ago. The biggest issue, no matter how many fans foolishly blame him for everything, he is the best option the Bears realistically could have. We saw again how bad it can get yesterday after Cutler left the game. Clausen is terrible. Same reason the Bears didn't get a different available starting QB in the offseason. Until they decided to actually tear it down and do a full rebuild (in the 2nd largest NFL market in the country, and yes, that does play into it), they will not be better and Cutler will be back. I wouldn't be shocked if the Bears re-sign him next offseason because there's not a legit starting QB in the draft class either. It's a vicious cycle of never having a better QB become available. About 3 teams get an elite QB. Maybe another 5 get a "good" QB. The Bears are in the 3rd tier with a "serviceable" QB (when he plays). It is what it is.

^^^^^^Cutler's contract doesn't run out after next season. He would still have 4 years left on it. It just that the 3rd year is the last year it had guaranteed money on it.

Re-sign/retain, you got the jist. In the NFL all that matters is the guaranteed money. Point is he'll be here again unless a truly better option becomes available. The Bears, just like the Bulls, and is the case for almost all large market franchises, they don't do "full rebuilds".

Bears trade Jon Bostic and Jared Allen for a couple of 6th round draft picks. Makes sense, trade a guy that doesn't play and another that doesn't fit.

Apparently Forte is on the block. I completely disagree with the idea that we should trade him. Even though we're 0-3 I think this team has shown that we aren't as far from contending as we all thought. Get lucky and sign a big FA or two and draft we could be real contenders in 2 years and Forte would be key in that

It depends on if they think they will be resigning him. There may or may not be a compensatory pick if he walks (it depends on the overall traffic of FAs in and out), but trading him guarantees some returning picks (or pick) and because our record will be marginally worse seven of our other draft picks will be marginally higher.

I love Forte and would be thrilled if he stayed, but in the big picture I'd be at peace if they decided trade him.

The Bears aren't going to be re-signing Forte unless he stops smoking whatever it is and curbs his demands on the value of a new deal. He's 29 now and will be 30 before this season ends (meaning he's be 31 next season). And doesn't sound like he fits into this coaching staff's future by the way they've talked in the media. If the Bears can get anything of value for him, they should take the deal.

Same goes for Alshon Jeffrey, under different parameters. Nice player. But he already said he'll be testing free agency, which most likely means he'll be gone unless some deal is struck ASAP. The Bears aren't winning a Super Bowl this season with the defense they have. It's not like hanging on to two replaceable players is going to make or break the Bears going forward.

It's a business and you need to take your fandom out of it. Forte especially. Does he really have a future here? The answer is most likely no. Nice player, good dude, has done a lot. He's still at that magical age number for running backs where it starts to be the law of diminishing returns. If the new regime should learn anything from the last 2, it's good to be loyal, but not completely loyal above all to where it hinders the team going forward. If you can get a team to give you more than he's worth, like a Dallas, you do it.
