BEARS DRAFT: DERRICK HENRY

Post#1 » by Chitownbulls » Thu Mar 24, 2016 1:19 pm

This guy is a absolute beast. I would love to see the Bears trade back, add another pick and grab Derrick Henry. We replaced Marshall with White last year, maybe we do the same with Forte. Between our defense and this offense, if Bears can control the ball, they will be very hard to beat. Langford/Henry duo is perfect. If this draft is extremely deep in Defensive ends....why not wait? The 4th best DE is similar to the 7th best DE.

Thoughts on Derrick Henry?

I'm not completely sold on him. Sure he's a tank with good top end speed for his size but I'm afraid he won't find or create the space needed to hit his extra gear. He doesn't have that cutting ability in the hole.

Same. I think Devontae Booker is a good mid round bargain.

Daniel Lasco and Keith Marshall could be steals in round 4 or 5

The guy I like is Drake, Henry's teammate. He was expected to be the starter but Henry went off. Drake has some injury issues but he's a great runner and was one of the best returners in college last season.

Yeah Ive read about Drake and Booker. If we take a rb later, I wouldnt mind either.

Henry is a monster but there are a couple things that worry me slightly. His upright running style, his size and his longevity. As big as he is, if he lets his body go 1 offseason, he could be done.

The pros are his aggressiveness, speed, ability to handle a workload, and pass protection. DBs dont want to tackle this guy. He would also fit the culture that is being built in Chicago right now. Tough/Aggressive football players.

You get Henry in this offense, you control the ball and play great defense....just like the Broncos did this year. Thats a hard team to beat.

I also like the idea of gaining another pick while trading back.

Very true... but it would have been better off to just keep Forte. They had the cap space, and Forte would have been cheaper with his injury problems in 2015. He was the best back Da Bears had since Sweetness himself.
