Pace really grinds on the second wave of FA. He has to win here.

Rather have him than Wheaton.

Only 8 million????? NOOOOOOOOOO

Yeah, at that price point, I probably would've moved on that. Unless people know things that we don't know. It's not like there were a ton of teams after him given the reports.

Rumor has it Pryor turned down better offers to play in Washington.

CB Marcus Cooper is visiting Chicago as we speak. Also saw Pace signed OT Compton. He's a swing T for depth.

Compton should be a good signing. He played in all 16 regular season games for the Falcons this past year (not sure if he started any). Once again giving us some depth so we can go BPA approach in the draft.

If Cooper signs, that gives us Porter, Prince, Cooper, and Fuller as CB's. Maybe the competition will spark something in Fuller. At the very least, it should be us a competent secondary.

Ultimately, I think the draft will play out something like 1) Jonathan Allen/Solomon Thomas, 2) Melifonwu, 3) WR/QB, 4) WR/QB,

Hmm...would liked to have seen more creativity thus far in freeing up more money to get a top tier guy(s). Restructuring of current contracts or something so that Pace's numbers are still met without sacrificing talent acquisition.

To me, the watchword for this Bears free agency run is competence. Glennon figures to be more of a competent QB than Hoyer, who is an established backup...not a starter. Amukamara is a thoroughly average CB, but he's a competent starter. Dion Sims is a competent TE...not good, but competent. Markus Wheaton isn't more than OK, but is worlds better than Bellamy, who as a WR is a very good special teams guy.

As near as I can tell, Pace has not yet been able to take a position of weakness and make it a position of strength...at best, he's removed some weaknesses. In these terms, he did better last season when he signed Trevathan and Freeman, turning ILB from a glaring weakness to a strength. At this point in the process, this would appear to be as much as Pace can do with this free agency period. Creating actual strengths is going to have to wait for the draft.

Excellent return man and clearly an upgrade. Contrary to my earlier post, this could take a weakness and make it a strength. Also, though Pattterson has been a disappontment as a receiver, he's better than Bellamy.

Bears sign Cardinals CB Marcus Cooper. 6-2, 192, 27 years old had a big 2016 (11 PDs, 4 INTs).

Signed CB Marcus Cooper to a 3 year deal.

He had 69 tackles, four interceptions and 11 pass deflections in 15 games with the Arizona Cardinals last season.

I like what Pace has done.

Get us Thomas or Hooker at 3 and I'm happy.

If our draft pans out like last year we will make playoffs next season.

I think the clear choice is Allen

Unless the Browns and Niners both completely screw up and pass on Myles garrett, Jonathan Allen is the guy I want the bears to take.

This cooper signing is an exceptional pickup. He was lockdown when he played for the chiefs. I haven't seen a Cardinals game recently but his stats show he's still pretty good. Prince definitely is not "thoroughly average". I didn't see him with the Jags but with the giants he was good. Doesn't get a lot of INTS but still covers better than the average CB. Unless Fuller can bounce back from his injuries, I think we just signed our two starting CB and we already had one of the best passing defenses in the NFL.

I think we can now agree that the panic was over blown. It's not what all wanted but it's definitely not bad. I think we now know how Pace operates. He'll sign quality players to team friendly deals regardless of how much cap we have. Might not be the strategy we want but definitely one of the best strategys to have.

The only thing I'm disappointed about at this point is that we didn't sign a RT. As of right now, we only have three glaring needs: DE, RT, WR. DE will most likely be addressed with the third pick. This is one of the deepest WR drafts in recent memory (and that's significant since a bunch have been real deep the past few seasons). As for RT, this might be one of the weakest positions in the draft but I have faith because Pace has a great draft record including a ridiculously good Whitehair.

I really hope they screw up. I might even be willing to trade up to the 1 spot depending on what we would have to give up. Our pick plus a 3rd and I'm doing.

Pace's MO is to sign quality value deals so he can go BPA in the draft.

I want Solomon Thomas. Think he is the next JJ Watt.

Ears sign WR Kendall Wright. His best year was in 2013 w Loggains.

We need to draft a WR but IMO we will be fine if white stays healthy. We will be winning w defense and rushing anyway. If Howard comes back next season as an improved pass catcher that will be huge for us.

Whatever happens to the young WR that is always hurt. He had a couple nice games and the. Got hurt again. Forgot his name.
