Ryan Pace has often said he likes Charles Leno and the Bears showed their love Wednesday as they completed a contract extension for the left tackle.

Leno’s four-year extension is worth $38 million with $21.5 million guaranteed. The sides finalized details with agent Ron Slavin, who represents the former seventh-round draft pick from Boise State. The provides value for the Bears as Leno projects to be the 14th-highest paid left tackle in the league based on annual average.

The deal secures the left side of the offensive line for the future as the Bears have done contract extensions for Leno and left guard Kyle Long in the last 12 months. Both were drafted by former general manager Phil Emery.

The current regime considered Leno, 25, one of the bright spots on the roster it inherited in 2015 and the move gives the Bears flexibility looking ahead to next offseason
