I like Olsen, the top TE. WE can get the 6 pick, trade back into the late teens and still draft him. RIght now i didn't start the "official" draft thread because We don't know what pick our first pick will be. I'd say, that at 6, there is nobody I would take that High that would still be there.

They should get JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn. After watching the retardness of Rex Grossman in the Super Bowl, we definitely need a legit quarterback who can hike the ball.

I really like the idea of getting those two first rounders from the Pats, is this rumor still true?

I really like Pat Willis, to bad he'll be gone by our pick. Also Jarrett would be a nice selection with the 31.

Don't see us grabbing a pass catching TE, we need a ferocious blocker who can occasionally catch a 20-30 yarder.

Later rounds, I'd like to see John Beck,QB, BYU. Other than that, we need offensive linemen and probably a WR. On defense we could probably use another good DT with all of Tanks' problems, and another DE wouldn't hurt either. I won't even bother with names of actual players, because Jerry Angelo usually does a pretty good job of plucking virtual unknowns that actually turn into decent/great players.

And that would get us where? Relying on a rookie QB, hmmm, sounds familiar.

I think Angelo should make some moves to help our offense, but we also need some defensive help- aka the SB.
I like Paul P. from Penn State, the Linebacker a lot.

Yeah Paul is going to be a good player and maybe he will fill Briggs' hole.

I like Olsen too and we could use him even though Clark is still pretty good. He won't last much longer and Olson may have lots more potential.

But in the Briggs thread somebody said they thought he was a Rosenthaus client. If that's true, he is like leprosy and don't even allow him in town let alone think about drafting him.

The Bears main needs seem to be OG, OT, WR, TE [which i personally don't agree with but it seems to be rumored a lot so whatever], and OLB. S and DT are possibilities, but they may not be a focus due to free agency signings

Some probable targets with the first two picks (assuming they stay at 31-37):

WR:

Ted Ginn, Jr.:

Pros: SPEED. Deep threat. Good in the return game. Considered a "gamebreaker"

Cons: Small [weight wise], not physical, has questionable hands and route running ability. Will almost certainly be gone by pick 31, and even if he did drop I doubt the Bears will take another speedy reciever with Berrian and Currie already on the team.

Dwayne Jarrett:

Pros: Solid hands, good size (6'4", 210), prototypical build for a #1 wide reciever -- something they'll need with Moose possibly departing soon.

Cons: Lacks speed (4.6 40) and ability to seperate from CBs, which weakens the possibility of him being a #1 in the NFL. Possible focus issues and needs to improve route running. Will probably be gone by #31.

Dwayne Bowe:

Pros: Good size and decent speed (6'2", 225, 4.5 40). Good athlete, good potential.

Cons: Kind of raw, tends to drop some catchable passes, needs improvement with route running and recognizing defenses.

Sidney Rice:

Pros: Good height and speed (almost 6'4", 4.45 40). Great hands, great control, good in the red zone.

Cons: Needs to add weight (only 195 lbs), needs a bit more work on route running, had a few minor injuries that cause durability concerns.

Robert Meachem:

Pros: Good size and speed (6'3", 210, 4.49 40) and has a good inital burst. Good athlete with a lot of potential

Cons: Inconsistant at times. Still raw. Needs to become more physical in going across the middle, drops balls when he hears footsteps. Might be a bit of a reach.

The WR prospect I've liked the most out of this group for a long time is Rice. If he fills out, he has the potential to be a true #1 reciever. He doesn't have any real big issues and he is the best route runner/has the surest hands outside of Calvin Johnson. He doesn't even really lack speed, but he's overlooked for bigger and faster guys with "more potential" who have some potentially glaring holes in their game.

Right on. It's hard to tell until we know for sure or not if we'll be picking in the 6th spot.

Cliff Levingston would like to see us get a good OL prospect. Outside of Terrance Metcalf we really don't have anyone to feel comfortable with filling in any Oline position in case of injury. At the same time, Miller and Brown are gettin pretty darn old so it'd be nice to have a good guy in house to step in and replace them when the time comes.

Obviously if Briggs is traded we'll need a linebacker; preferably in the first couple of rounds.

Tight End could use an upgrade as well. Not necessarily to replace Desmond Clark but to have a reliable backup and someone better to put on the field in 2 tight end situations; Cliff Levingston no likey John Gilmore and Gabe Reid.

We could possibly use another WR but we still have Bradley who will hopefully be (finally) healed from that torn ACL in '05. Moose is getting older but he's not THAT old. If we pick a WR Cliff Levingston hopes it won't be until the 4th round.

The Bears should go like this,

My fav thing would be somehow trading up high enough to get Calvin Johnson, we really don't have any great Wideouts, sure Moose is great blocker but he's been declining. Berrian's a nice deep threat but he isn't enough. Bradly could still come back(was a 2nd Round in 05) but he hasn't proven too be an all-star. CJ/Berrian/Bradly would be a great young WR crops.

The OLine while good really needs some youth, what better time then the draft to add youth?

The RB position could use a little bolstering with the absence of Thomas Jones, a little quick scat back could be a nice change-of-pace back for giving Benson, and Peterson a blow.

The LB is deffently a little spotty with the more then likely departure of Lance Briggs.

I'd be tempted too take a QB, but you've have too give Grossman another year.

my dream draft [within the realm of reality] would probably be something like

Trade Briggs + 31 to Redskins for Lamar Marshall and 6
Trade 6 to Miami for 9 + 71 + 181

9 - OT Levi Brown
37 - WR Sidney Rice
71 - TE Scott Chandler (Converted WR. Iffy blocker, good size and hands)
130 - CB Deandre Jackson (Great talent, perfect fit for the cover 2, injury concerns)
168 - OG Dan Santucci (Played D-Line and moved to O-Line, still kind of a work in progress but has shown the potential to be, at least, a quality backup on a pro level.)
181 - RB Garrett Wolfe (Speedy running back that would be a good change of pace every once in a while for Benson. He was a stud in college, but his stock is low due to durability and size concerns)
221 - DT Matt Toeaina (Big, good initial speed, run stuffer. Not an every down guy though. Could be a potential replacement for Boone in the DT rotation)
241 - QB Jared Zombransky (Just because he's awesome and I love Boise State)

Are you joking?

1. Forget Russell, he will be gone long before we pick.

2. Why would we waste our first round pick on another average QB like Brady Quinn? We have many other needs that need to be addressed before backup QB. Make no mistake, Grossman will be starting next season. There is no reason to waste a 1st rounder on a QB when, if need be, we can get one of average caliber in much later rounds.

The Bears need to look at RB and secondary help once again. I imagine they'll draft defense as they have in the past. Another wideout would be extremely helpful as well. The O-line is getting old, and I'd like to see them take a TE somewhere.

Geez, if the Bears could trade Briggs for an OLB and the #6 then turn around and swing the #6 to the Pats for the #24 and #28 the Bears would be in a great spot draft wise. They'd have 3 first rounders. I'd think that the Bears could draft Paul P from Penn St. at #24. Then pick up a player like Jarrett, an OL, and a TE with the other picks including the early 2nd rounder. That or get a DT.
This is obviously all speculation and who knows if having 3 1st round picks would even work salary wise, but it sure would make for a fun and entertaining 1st day of the draft.
