Rex and Bears would benefit from a little tough love

I agree with Joe Jackson. Rex would benefit, and most likely give us a season full of GREAT REX, and no Bad Rex, if he knew he could lose his job if he doesn't cut it.
I think he gets too much confidence and unconditional love from the coaches and teammates. Some players need that, but I don't think Rex is one of them. With him admitting to lack of preperation, etc.
The bears have 3 solid QB's on the roster. Griese is good, and Orton had a solid rookie year being tossed into the fire in 2005, this kid has potential too. So our 3rd stringer was a 10 game winner, that says how much depth we have at QB, Rex needs to know that if he loses focus, any one of those guys could replace him.
If Rex stinks it up, yank him out, start him the following week and we'll see vast improvement. Tough Love for Rexy, and he'll lead us back to the superbowl and bring us home the TITLE!

They need to go into camp with the position wide open, and Rex needs to earn the job over Brian. But I agree we can't extend him yet, let's see what he does this year. Unless the bears feel they can lock him up cheap because his value is low right now around the league.

Name one time playing Yo-Yo with a quarterback worked.
Teams need consistency. If Rex hasn't smoothed it out by week 3 or 4, You will see a change. And it'll probably be permanent.
I was as mad at Rex after the Superbowl as anyone else. The problem is, he's still a young QB. This season will tell us if he's going to be a solid starter, or if the Bears need to start over.

I'm not saying to do it like the late 1970's where you pull from a hat to see if Avalleni, Evans of Phipps would be starting week by week.
It'd be different if this were the 90's and our 2nd and 3rd stringers were scrubs, Brian and Kyle are good QB's.
I'm not saying saying yank him out if he throws a pick or fumbles, everyone makes mistakes, but when you make bonehead play after bonehead play, it's time to watch from the bench and learn something, work harder in practice next week, and silence your critics with excellent play.
If Rex knows his job is on the line he won't make all the mental errors that have hurt our team, he'll be our guy, and he'll have earned the spot.
I think Lovie is a good coach, but sometimes too much of a nice guy, I'm not saying we need a nut job like Ditka, but a little fire would help.

yall better not be kiddin yourselves. rex flat out sucks. the bears should look for a new qb. he killed the bears' chance in the super bowl. the bears would be lucky to make it back to the nfc title game with rex.

Rubbish. All of it. Rex's job is on the line regardless of whether Griese gets a chance to compete for the job or not, this is the last year on his deal.
Lovie too much of a nice guy? Based on what? His defense that punishes teams or the power running offense that helped us to be the highest scoring team in the NFL?

I wouldn't say the Bears should go into camp with the QB position wide open, but the only way Rex was losing his job last season was because of injury. I think they should go into camp with the notion that Rex doesn't have that luxury anymore, and has to perform consistently to keep his job. Make sure that it's in the back of his mind that he can easily lose his job if he doesn't perform.

yo k sodd rexy can play..........i saw every snap he took last season and he can play
he'll be an above average starter for a contending team...........probably will make at least one prow bowl
he needs protection.......he's mobile.............gettin rid of the o-line coach should straighten all that out........and goin to sh-gun more will help
