GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Rampage's leading receiver and kickoff return man will be joining a new team in a new league this season, as Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica) signed on with the NFL's Chicago Bears. The Arena Football League's 2007 leader in all-purpose yards, kickoff return yards, and return touchdowns will take part in the Bears' minicamp beginning this week.

Marshall, who spent two seasons (2003-04) in the af2 with the Tulsa Talons and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz before joining Grand Rapids, played three years (2005-07) with the Rampage, setting several records while proving himself as one of the team's most electric players of all time. In just 38 games, Marshall set a team record for career kickoff return yards (3,506), tied for first in Rampage history with eight kickoff returns for touchdowns, and was second behind only former receiver and current offensive coordinator Michael Baker for all-purpose yards in a Grand Rapids uniform (6,457).Marshall, who spent two seasons (2003-04) in the af2 with the Tulsa Talons and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz before joining Grand Rapids, played three years (2005-07) with the Rampage, setting several records while proving himself as one of the team's most electric players of all time. I don't know if you can make that declaration yet. Even with Hester playing some WR, we'll probably keep five other wide receivers on the roster. Someone needs to replace Gage on the inactive list, especially with Bradley's tendency to get injured.

Muhammad, Berrian, Bradley and Davis are all locks, but someone has to emerge as the fifth guy for the depth.

The Bears had to compete for this guy with two other teams. I don't think they would have bothered if he has no chance. I could easily see him beating out David Ball, Mike Hass, and Brandon Rideau (Timon Marshall is just a body for camp as far as I know) if he performs most effectively on special teams, as arena football guys tend to do.

My bet is hester is counted as the 5th wr, as wolfe can split out as well, and Olsen at TE can split out like gates as well. No reason we'd need another WR then those. I'll be happy if we find a diamond in the rough, but I doubt it.

True. Our WR crop is fine right now especially if Hester shows anything at the position. Cliff Levingston would give him the benefit of the doubt before Marshall due to him proving his worth on an NFL field already.

Wasn't he signed for 3 years. That would make me think they have more plans for him then just coming out for training camp

they do it all the time, it's the signing bonus that counts. Odds are, his is very small.
