Why Angelo wants to defend Grossman so much.

If you guys remember back too the 2003 Draft, Angelo traded the #4 Pick for the #14 and #22 Picks
Quite frankly, I think it's been a horriable trade.
The guy we toke at #14(Micheal Hayes) is no longer on the team, and the guy at #22(Rex Grossman) hasn't proven too be anything but a decent back-up.(Too me)
Look at who he could have taken at #4, the big name that jumps out at me is Bryon Leftwich, now while you might say that Leftwich hasn't proven much more then Grossman, I'd take Leftwich over Grossmman, becuase whats the big problem that everyone says about Leftwich?
Injuries, and it's not like Grossman hasn't had a few of those.
Grossman has proven he can go a whole season with getting injuried, but that was just one season, he'd still have a concern if I was Angelo.
But the fact that Grossman, was pick almost 20 slots lower then Leftwich also has too be considered, but if you consider that you might also consider the fact that the pick that trade too get that pick was two slots higher then Leftwich.
What ever happened too that number 14 pick? It was used on Micheal Haynes, who as I said earlier isn't even on the team now, and couldn't cut it on the Saints last season.
So what you have is Bryon Leftwich(Or possibly Terrell Suggs if I rember correctly from the pre-draft buzz.) for Rex Grossman.
Thats arguable in it's self, but like I said eariler I'd take Leftwich.
But another thing is the #22 pick, Angelo toke what he thought was the safe pick with Grossman. Now me myself, I would have taken Willis McGahee, even with the injuries becuase all signs up too that point had showen that he's knee was looking good, and was workingout on it predraft.
However it was still a concern, because theres always a greater chance of re-injurying it, then somebody else broking something totaly diffrent.
Now my whole point, Angelo wants to keep Grossman to show that he still has something too show for the #4 pick, and that he didn't just blow it on absolutly nothing.
I belive Jerry has made an influance on coach Smith a few times to keep Rex in games, even if maybe he shouldn't have been.
I hope I'm not coming off as anti-Anglo, becuase I like alot of stuff he has done I mean really look at the very two next players he toke in that draft, Peanut, and Briggs, now granted Briggs is having the contract issue right now, regadless getting Briggs in the third was an off the carts pick.
You have too take the good with the bad, thats with everthing, thats as true with NFL draft picks as it is with a long relationship.
