Good to have our defense all healthy again.
Glad that Briggs is back in action.
Our only hole is DT and I am sure Angelo will fix that up.

The defense wasn't so hot at the end of the year without Harris. He's coming back from surgery, and there is no Tank, Ian Scott or Alfonso Boone. The middle is a big question mark. What if Tommy isn't the same? Who are Dvorczak and Garay? If the Bears can't control the line, it won't matter how good the secondary is because teams will just ram it down their throats like the Colts did.

tommy is fine. Scott and Boone were horrible for this defense. I saw them get pushed outside for 6 yard running lanes over and over last year. Even tank had some issues. Dusty is another guy who is too strong to simply move aside and he goes the direction he wants to go.

Him and tommy will fit in nicely, and everyone forgets anthony adams who was a high draft pick, played well as a rookie, then the defense switched to a 3-4 and he was not that kind of DT. Kind of like having sam adams for our defense, doesn't work. If dusty struggles (which I doubt) adams will be just fine by tommy.

Agreed. Every one is bemoaning the loss of Scott/Boone but they were not great fits for this defense and they rarely if ever got upfield. They were/are running stuff DTs and not one-gap DTs. But yes, those two and even Tank were getting blown off the line in the playoffs putting extra strain on our line backers.

Adding Archuleta will be great for our defense. While he struggled in Washington, he's back in the Tampa-2 and will be good for our run support. The safety spot is a huuuge need in this defense, think Bob Sanders, Ronde Barber, etc.

garay, if healthy is very atheletic

and is a right fit for our system...............tommie requires so much attention that whoever plays with him will play much better than usual

briggs was key.........williams and okwo will both be good but neither are ready

esp not for a title contender that everyone will be gunning for

THANKYOU LANCE (ill never write bitchggs again)

Got Darwin Walker, don't know what he'll do but sounds like a solid pickup in Madden. I also think Daniel Manning will be the starting safety over Archuleta considering he has Troy Polamalu ability

Walker is a pretty big pickup. He'll start and he really solidifies what had the potential to be the weak point of the D.

OUr DT situation is now better then last year. Every position is stronger, and only RB has been hurt on depth.

I even like our running back situation. The defense has wicked depth. D Line adds Dvoracek, Walker & our pick Bazuin into the rotation from the superbowl along with Harris back & brown then add on Archuleta? Are you kidding me?

Then we give Rex 2 more weapons on offense (finally a game breaker in Hester - even if he's over hyped, other teams FINALLY WILL HAVE TO GAME PLAN TO STOP A BEARS OFFENSIVE PLAYER!!!) Plus Olsen?

Angelo = the man

^Don't forget a healthy Bradley, who may be the best WR on the team.

Totally forgot aboout Bradley. Can you imagine a 3 wide set with berrian, Bradley & Hester? With Olsen splitting the seems.

Serious burn - serious burn.

two words for you darth

garrett wolfe.........im telling you he will be special (think eric metcalf with better running ability)
durability will be a concern over the life of his career, but 5-10 great years are highly possible

im probably the only bear fan that will say this, but i think we are marginally better at RB
benson now has what he always wanted and wolfe will be by defenders who wont even see him

if wolfe werent a rook, i would say significantly better. its hard to say how someone will adjust to pro football their 1st year

If our DBs stay healthy this will be one hell of a punishing unit - with NO holes.

addition by subtraction. last year Jones was a divisive influence, but because he was the "good guy" benson got dumped on by the press & players - even though he said all the right things. This year Benson ha sth eteams support. That alone is a mental improvement - and the guy is just flat out more talented than Jones IMO

Return to Chicago Bears
