Benson fires back at Phillips

During an interview on Sirius satellite radio on Tuesday, Phillips echoed a Yahoo! Sports report Sunday saying San Diego considered Benson "soft."

"I'll run that dude over any day," Benson said, his smile making it seem like no big deal but his body language revealing his fury. "If I met him the hole? Any day. You know, one-on-one? Yeah, right. Come on.

"They're just talking. I don't even know what number he is. I don't even know who he is."

Benson was asked if Phillips did any trash talking on the field Sunday.

"Nah, he didn't say nothing to me," he said.

Then Benson responded to Phillips using radio as a forum.

"Whatever hypes their ego, you know," Benson said.

"I don't need to defend myself on being a tough runner, man. Being a tough runner? Come on."

I know a lot of people don't like Benson's personality, but I love it. And I know I'm in the minority.

Hopefully Benson plays with an even bigger chip on his shoulder from here on out and produces. He was brutal last week, although I think the OL deserves much of the blame for that. Garza & Miller in particular.

Cedric's my boy.... I loved reading his reaction in this article and hopefully they meet again in the SB and Benson runs his ass over!

eh, benson will have to bring it from here on out...otherwise, he'll see himself baggin groceries in the near future. I'll just wait, see, and hope he make through with his return of tough talk. If he and the rest of team understand they're no longer the Hunters, and are the Hunted, and play like the Hunted and Hunters at the same time, they (and Benson) will do fine!

I don't like Benson, but I think his response was good.

Instead of having a good radio response I'd rather see him respond on the field though.
