Ok Keep in mind that I havent really seen this guy play to much... So I'm basically just looking for details...
Im curious whats wrong with him? What are his ups and downs?
And why arent the bears considering him?

I heard the Falcons are considering him.. but you're right I really wouldn't mind him in a Bears uniform.
Jaguars had a choice to keep one, Leftwich and Garrard, and IMO went to Garrard because Leftwich had trouble staying healthy.

I thought the Bears should have drafted him (and it turns out, even with the injuries, that I was right) instead of making the trade. Haynes is gone and Grossman was injured forever and showed little promise. Is Byron done? I hope not for his sake.
Cut Rex and pick up Byron?
What do you have to lose?

We aren't going to cut Rex. I just don't see it.

I don't know, would Leftwich have been better than Rex + Haynes, probably. However, he wouldn't have been anything special. You could have had Terrell Suggs, Jordan Gross, or Kevin Williams. Dewayne Robertson was the guy we rumored to be considering but I don't know if that was true and I don't think he turned out all that great either.
If I had my pick of guys who went in the 4-10 range then I would love to have Jordan Gross on this team right now.

I think you'd have a hard time getting the whole offense in sync with a QB who hasn't even gone through camp with the team.

After watching McNabb play last night, seeing how his O-Line couldn't block, but also seeing how Donovan couldn't really move out of the pocket at times....I dunno why we'd pick up Leftwich who had a similar injury, who could be in the same position as McNabb. Our O-Line as of riight now is a bit of a concern. Rex has shown he can move out of the pocket. Its just a question of what he, REX, does with the ball after that, which is correctable. A lingering or ill-effect of prior injury is in all likelihood, uncorrectable. Thats why now, I dont see us going for Byron Leftwich. I was like some hoping he'd join but I dont think he'd help right now, with our offensive line looking sketchy.

I really wanted Suggs at the time. Now, I would sign Leftwich cause if this Rex thing doesnt work out we are kinda screwed when he leaves as a FA at the end of the year. This has gotta work out....I KNOW IT WILL WORK OUT!

Sign Leftwich if he'll sign reasonably cheap.
Release Grossman or trade him to Atlanta for a 4th or 5th round pick.
Make Leftwich the 3rd string QB and let him start learning the Bears system for the rest of this year.
Start Griese and I expect him to impress.
If he falters go to Orton for awhile.
If Orton doesn't get it done, by that time Leftwich should be well enough acquainted with the Bears system to give it a try.
I wouldn't expect Leftwich to play this year.
Griese would do fine and the Bears will win the Super Bowl.
And Orton, if you ever get to him which I obviously don't think you would, would probably start to develop most comparably to Romo out of the young quarterbacks coming around now. Depending on his intelligence. If he is not any smarter than Grossman (speaking NFL quarterback wise) then he will not develop to anything more than Grossman is. Which is a loser as a QB. Orton is much bigger, stronger and was a better passer in college and he would be a better passer now. If he can absorb the game and the position. Which is what Grossman can not do.
In any event, by signing Leftwich and releasing or getting some crumbs for Grossman you would have three better alternatives than you have with Grossman right now.
