The Rex Ratio (when does he get benched)

There's a breaking point to everything. A spot where things, well, change. Change dramatically too! So my question to you all is when does Rex Grossman hit that point? What kind of turnovers to touchdowns to games ratio do you feel Rex would have to perform at prior to Lovie making a change?

For instance, I feel that Rex's breaking point is 4 turnovers to 1 touchdowns to 2 game, or 4:1:2. At that point Lovie may have no choice but to explore Griese. Lovie also said that he's think of this season in quarters (or 4 game sets). This would give Rex a full set of action in Lovies eyes. If Rex performs above those numbers I think he's safe, if he doesn't he's done.

I'd be interested in seeing what everyone else's opinion would be.

My opinion is that the point of dramatic change will be just the opposite. It will be a bust out huge game for Grossman followed up by several consistent games that finally shut the critics up. I hope it comes against a solid team. Turner just has to let him play IMO.

I think every Bears fan hopes you are right, emperor. Most of them just don't think thats going to happen.

IMO he needs to have at least 4 straight consistently good games for him to be considered absolutely safe. Then he can stand to have a 2 INT game or so.

I am almost getting to the point where I wouldn't mind a rebuilding year if we could have a real QB. I know that probably makes me sound like a terrible fan, but I just honestly feel that way.

Although with Briggs in his last year & the OL so old the window seems to be closing fast and I think we have to win with Rex.

OYE! As if my week hasn't been going any crappier, to see this...REBUILD! UGH! We've only made the playoffs 3 times in the last 10 yrs....BUNK that! We're hoping for REX to be good, or we're getting a legit QB (by hook or by crook) because waiting around, and we'll take another 21 yrs to get back to the Super Bowl.

Rex goes to the bench if we get beat really bad vs. the Cowpolks, esp. if he's turned it over more than twice.

Don't get me wrong TreyZz, I know what you're thinking/feeling. It ain't good to get to the point of rebuilding. If anyone is to blame for the futility on offense, its management!

Two more weeks of mediocre play. It's not like he's been playing badly the last two weeks, but he hasn't been particularly good either.

He played very badly against KC (though we won). He didn't play that badly against SD, but he certainly didn't play well.

I've seen this plan in practice before. A long time ago. I think it was, like, 1998 or so. Having to do with guys named Jordan, Pippen, Jackson & Rodman. As I recall, that didn't work out so well. Count me out of losing in the hopes we draft a QB. With the Bears luck, they'd get the equivalent of Ryan Leaf.

Maybe Donovan McNabb will become available. Then if the Bears sign him, we can criticize his play based solely on the color of his skin.
