Benson?

Post#1 » by IVSKIN » Mon Sep 24, 2007 5:37 am

What is going to happen with him next week? This is two games in a row where he has been benched due to fumbling. Are they going to start Adrian Peterson next week? If they benched Benson, and allowed Grossman to start again, I will stop being a Bears fan.

Was it really because of the fumble or was it because they needed to pass to get back into the game, so they put the better blocker/reciever in Peterson out there.

ICLO, he looked good tonight before the fumble.

The refs on the field should not have called that a fumble. The whistle blew. But I thought Benson looked good at time too. Just not consistent enough - but I now believe it is the line, not just him.

The line was very good last night especially in pass protection, but Benson looked better. He was patient in waiting for a hole to develop whereas perhaps last week he would've just pounded into the line. You were able to see last night how he can get those extra couple yards after contact. The offense as a whole just wasn't consistent enough to get him a lot of carries.

He may never be a great back but he'll be a pretty good one for our style.

I don't really share your feelings about the O-line cause there were a couple blitz packages that were pretty standard and they even showed a basic stunt and the 0-line couldn't pick that up. Pathetic.

However Benson is nowhere near at fault. When he gets the ball he might not be explosive like LT or big and nimble like Gore or LJ, but he looks like a freakin' bull when he drives through the line. I like him.

What I was upset about is when we were down by not much(don't remember how much) we could've stuck with the run. Grossman had too many chances after a piss poor first half. If we could've stuck witht he run we could've started to open it up mid-field and then hopefully get lucky with BB.

Grossman actually looked good in the first half. Berrian had one horrid dropped pass, and save for a couple less than great throws, Grossman was on target. It all fell apart in the second half though; more proof that when the pressure increases, Rex folds.

Just proves that we need a change. Moose, Berrian and most of the offense looks dis-enchanted out there. We need a change, but not at RB.

I'm not being tricked by smoke an mirrors anymore. I will agree the first Bears drive was a good one, other than that I felt shaky everytime the Bears offense took the field.

Since you mentioned BB. We are wasting his career progression by having Rex and not running the ball. We continue to pass.

If you just run the ball over and over then the defense can pretty easily pick up on that and stop it. So far we haven't been nearly successful enough with the run to be able to depend on it. Even if we were, you can't expect to be able to compete for a championship without a competent passing game.

Perhaps we can run a little more but Turner needs to mix up the play calling big time. When we fans can easily tell what's coming on every play then the defense certainly can to.

Anyone care to give me a good explaination as why CB can't hold onto the ball? It just doesn't make sense to me while he would fumble so much.
