Bigger need: Safety or OL?

A couple weeks ago, Doug and Cliff Levingston had a little debate on which position we should pick in the first round of the next draft. Especially now, it makes for a nice thread ICLO.
Our offensive line has rebounded a tad bit after a dreadful start. Benson is finding a little more room to run and Griese is getting pretty good protection overall. They're still old and there's not a lot of depth there though.
Meanwhile, ICLO our safety position in in complete shambles due to another Mike Brown injury. God bless that man but he seems to be snake-bitten when it comes to injuries to the point where you simply cannot rely on him anymore. It sucks cause he's the only safety we have who is a bonafied playmaker.
After Brown, Archuleta has been downright awful. Daniel Manning in his second year is struggling to make the full transition to FS after playing CB in college. Being shuffled around in lieu of Vasher's injury doesn't help but he still doesn't seem to have the instincts to play safety. McGowan is a nice player at SS but just isn't a play maker either.
You pretty much have Cliff Levingston's answer above, but which is the bigger position of need right now? At the same time, given the chance at (for example) the best OT and best Safety in the draft, who would you pick (provided we don't take a QB)?

McGowan is a nice player? What has he ever done to warrant that? He is horrible. And if it wasn't clear in the prior weeks it was made pretty clear last week.
Danieal Manning is tissue soft & a bust. He is terrible at CB and maybe worse at FS. He often lines up out of place & blows coverage when playing FS. And we know he cannot tackle. This was JA's top draft pick a year ago.. Sad.
I still think it's OL.. Unless we're picking in the top 10 and have a shot at Phillips.

From what I heard, McGowan missed several tackles yesterday that lead to huge Peterson runs.
The OL has been pretty good in the past 3 games, I say draft a safety in round one if we aren't going QB and an offensive lineman in round 2-3.
I also hope Mike Brown gets relatively healthy again and gives it just one more shot.

Safety does look absolutely dreadful.
However, our offensive line is old, and it's showing it's age this year. Next year is going to be worse. I don't know, the safety play has been so bad that I have serious doubts now.

CBS you have a lot of hope if you think Mike Brown will every play the way we expected him to in his career.
More hope than a Cubs fan.
I've seen all of Mike Brown's injuries and they were all pretty weak looking hits. The guy is rubber band. Hes one hell of a player but his game relies so much on explosion and quick instinct. With all the injuries you'd have to think he loses some of that explosion with every rehab. After the 4th(?) major injury, I dreadfully admit hes done.
Now between the S and OL. Thats tough, but knowing Angelo hes going to go with S. The cover 2 really needs productive safeties. Now with Archuleta as the "run stopper" we need a bonified Free Safety. Our O-line is bad, but there is no way in hell Angelo goes OL over S in the draft. Even I would be mad if he did because for a high draft pick I'd like Angelo to hit the homerun, which he only does with defensive players.
The best hes done on the offensive side of the ball is Bernard Berrian, and I'm not as impressed with him as most Bear fans.

He had a great game filling in for Archuleta the first game Adam was out. Cliff Levingston didn't say he's our answer at Safety but it's hard to ask for more from your 4th safety on the roster. Maybe Payne would've shown us something had he not got hurt and put on IR.

Great question, I know we need both, but safety is a serious need. Mike Brown is unreliable, Chris Harris is gone, D. Manning is being switched from Safety to Corner to Safety to Corner and back again and he really needs to establish and learn the free safety spot. Archuleta is as advertised hard hitter, slow runner. I think the Bears Safety situation is decent when they are all available, rotating in during key situations, but when it hits the fan we see the results. Payne looked good in training camp and the one half he played, but the injury hit him as well.
Offensive line is a concern even if they were not playing bad, because they are up there in football years. If we get a high pick top 5 then we need to take the best player available i.e. do not pass up Brady Quinn for Ted Ginn Jr. Hopefully Darren McFadden falls into our laps. Other then that we need to draft the best Safeties and O-Linemen available. Did we give up to quickly on Columbo?
Maybe there is a curse on the Superbowl loser, because I thought for sure we had a strong chance to return, but everything that could go wrong went wrong. It is not over yet, but do not get your hopes up, instead buy a draft insider magazine for this years up coming draft.

Great question +1
I say go OL in free agency and safety in the 1st round.
We won't have time for an OL man to learn the NFL. We need 2 OL men in free agency. Guys that can step in right away and BLOCK SOMEONE! At safety, if we can grab the best talent available, our defense and corners could be good enough to let him ease into the position over the 1st quarter of the season.
