I feel the complete opposite, sorry Ruben.

The Browns have two potentially good QBs, as a Bear fan, I'm jealous. What the Browns needed most was defense and they sure got that with Williams and Rogers. Rogers for a 2nd round pick was a good pick up. Don't know the exact numbers for Rogers, but 6 years - 42 mill is not bad for someone that you know is going to be a game changer.

The couple times we played Det, Shaun Rogers killed us. He does the same with most teams. Then during the Det Bear game he got injured for a couple possessions and thats when the Bears actually had some success. I know its the Bears, but Shaun Rogers is a menace on the D line.

Now Stall worth on the other hand might of been an over pay, although Javon Walker was an overpay, but then again salaries just increase through time. Never though did I think Javon and Donte would be able to get what they got.

The money situation with Donte is going to end up being horrible since he'll be playing 3rd and even 4th fiddle, next to Edwards, Winslow, and Jeravicious. Even when Donte was at Philly, he was no more than a #2, which is the main reason McNabb never won anything. Joe is a crowd favorite, being from OH, and is a pretty good #2 WR, even though he essentially plays #3 with Winslow and Edwards as 1 and 2.

The Jamal Lewis signing is not bad. Hes a proven 1000 yard rusher and even had a good chance at the rushing record one year, yes it was behind the Baltimore O-line, but he still had to carry the ball. Shows you what a great O-line and a good RB can do together.

Any deal in the NFL is a big risk and injuries are what kills teams. You have to remember NFL deals aren't all gauranteed, and giving money to proven players isn't a bad thing, its a good thing.

Now the Bears on the other hand usually give big contracts to nobody, and take chances on players who aren't proven.

They hit a semi jackpot with Jones when they picked him up from the scrap heap, and they completely struck out with Benson and his big fatty contract.

Trading a 3rd round pick for Rogers, a 2nd round pick for another DT in Williams and then signing Rogers to a $42M deal. Then they go out and sign Stallworth to a 7 year $35M contract.
They re-up Anderson for 3 years at $24M. They also resigned Jamal Lewis...I don't know for how much but for 3 years.

But with all these deals, they now, ulitmately, have no 2008 NFL draft. I think they will be disappointed in both DT's, and I don't think that Anderson is that good. I know he's just a stop-gag for Quinn...but they better hope for a good season out of him so they can trade him next off-season. If not, that's a lot of money to eat. Stallworth, is just a player that benefits from being on the Patriots and the Browns were the suckers to bite on him...I'd rather have Berrian and his contract than Stallworth and his.

Stallworth is a player that just benefits from being on the Patriots? That makes no sense at all. Stallworth proved he was a good WR2 in New Orleans and Philly. He has had more success in this league than Berrian and he is certainly more physically gifted. He is older than Berrian but also a little better.

Shaun Rogers is an absolute stud defensive tackle. He was a malcontent in Detroit and played lazily. But when he does play he produces big time. Think Albert Haynesworth in Tennessee in terms of what he can do when he is happy and playing at his best. Haynesworth plodded along for years until he put it together last year consistently. Rogers, however, is even more talented than that.

I just don't see how you can be down on Cleveland. They have a very good offensive line. A pro bowl QB with a legit WR1 in Edwards and now Stallworth as well, a proven WR2 with big play ability. A great TE in Kellen Winslow Jr.....And they just added one of the leagues best defensive tackles to a 3-4 defense with a solid group of LBs and now a good defensive line in front of them.

I just do not see what is not to like about this team.

What if the 2nd round pick sucks?

I'd rather pay a little more than to waste a second round pick on a bust.

Shaun Rogers is a sure thing, if the Bears had the go-nads to use their cash, I'm sure they would love to trade their 2nd round draft pick for a stud like Rogers.

However its moot point, because the Bears are bargain buyers.

Ruben Douglas wrote:As far as Stallworth, you have every right to your opinion and you may be right. He had 1 good season in New Orleans. In Philly he was hurt so I'll leave that one in the air. They needed another receiver and due to having no draft picks they had to sign him to an obscene contract.

Stallworth has had one good year? He has been pretty good almost every year in the league. Its not like he was ever a WR 1 besides the year in Philly when he was on a 1000 yard pace and missed 4 games. Sure he has had some injury problems throughout the years and he isn't the star he was expected to be. Be he is a legit big play threat and a legit WR2.

You don't have to have 1000 yards to be a good player. Bernard Berrian is the one who got an obscene contract, not Stallworth. Stallworth will average 15-18 yards a catch, have 600-800 yards recieving, and be a good #2 WR for a team that didn't have one last year.

I think they needed to resign Jamal Lewis and signing Anderson is not a bad decision. But I think they went about it all wrong. Keep your 2nd rounder and use that on a DT. Trade Derek Anderson for a 1st rounder and select a WR. That way if they suck you aren't stuck with all that money tied up.

But even though these are my thoughts, at least they have a GM with some balls.

Trade a pro bowl QB so you can start some 2nd year player who has never played?

Also I don't really see how them sucking is possible, if they suck with Stallworth and Rogers and Williams they were screwed no matter what. Who cares what Packers fans say about Williams, every team's fans try to pretend the free agents they lose aren't any good unless they are bona fide superstars. NFL is not like the NBA where signing a couple players to nice sized deals destroys your cap for years and years.

They have very good offensive and defensive lines, I just don't see how they aren't successful unless people get hurt. They had a good young team and added some good and proven players. It seems like you just want to be different here with this Browns won't be good angle.

I'm not trying to get in an argument, and I'm not trying to be "different". It's just an opinion. And seeing as how a message board is for voicing opinions, I thought I would just give my take. It could be right or it could be very wrong. Either way I don't care.

There are too many people on these boards that take opinions personal and think that there are hidden agenda's. i.e. - to piss people off, to be the first to predict a rumor, to be different. Let's just say that there are more than a few people on these boards that don't like me because I write what I think and they are too stubborn to accept that there might be a chance that I'm right. But I will be the first person to admit when I am wrong or that I might be wrong. Plus, if I wanted to be different I'd try to be more creative than discussing the Cleveland Browns.

No there are too many people on these boards who like to give their opinions even when they don't take the time to understand all the facts.

Is there any chance in hell that we can trade for Brady Quinn?
