Booker.

Not the 2001 Booker. This one.

Who's the second best skill position player on the offense right now? Probably Olsen, behind Clark. Grossman is in the conversation when he's not turning the ball over like crazy.

But yea, our offense sucks. Thanks for pointing that out Couch; we weren't smart enough to realize it for ourselves.

I agree with some of the article, we're unable to fix every hole we have via draft. But I don't want to us to go into 2008 playing even worse than 2007. You want to win, bring together camaraderie and develop players that haven't seen much time (the 2nd stringers who might turn into gems, or the draft picks). Winning is a priority, and hell, you never know who gets the injury bug in 2008, which could allow you to make the playoffs. But to go into forward thinking without having drafted any of the players is... The only thing I can agree with the article is that its not a quick fix, but if the suggest that this regime is pointing toward 2009 is just another reason I want Angelo ousted asap.

It seems to me most people (fans and writers alike) have no concept of the salary cap in football.

1) Very few teams have ever been successful making the big splash in FA, so I'm not upset that we didn't go after the tier 1 players who are going to be vastly overpaid.

2) We really don't have tons of cap room left, and we sure as hell would have been complete morons to spend it on a WR when we have absolutely no offensive line and a mediocre QB. We could have a 3 WR set of Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, and Marvin Harrison and still be screwed if we don't get Grossman enough protection to be able to throw the ball.

Booker's a great signing in that he complements our existing WRs by adding a solid veteran presence at a near zero cost. Given teh limited spending resources and the array of far greater needs, that seems like a nice idea to me.

I agree with most of what you have said especially about the OLine. But that is the main problem I have with this off season is that right now the Bears have 3 starting OLineman and it looks as though this is how the Bears will enter the draft.
