Chris Brown?

There might be a homecoming for running back Chris Brown after all.

The former Naperville North star and unrestricted free-agent has attracted interest from the Bears, a source close to the player said Wednesday. Brown, who played with Tennessee this past season, signed with the Titans in June after talking with the Bears, signing a one-year, $1.8 million deal.

Brown is scheduled to visit Houston on Wednesday.

Brown's role was limited in 2007. He finished with 102 rushes for 462 yards and five touchdowns while playing behind LenDale White. Brown did have the Titans' longest rush of the season 42 yards.

I like Chris Brown. I played against him in High Shcool, he was obviously a beast then.

I think this guy just got lost with Tennessee. He lost his spot to Travis Henry, who signed with Denver. I hope they plan to pick up another back 'cause Lendale White ain't going to cut it, is he?

Brown had strong consideration for us in 07, but signed a one year with TEN. I think a place like the Bears could be really attractive for him. Kinda the same situation as Lloyd. Injury, lost his spot to another guy, trying to recoup his career by signing, either cheap, or just a one year deal.

Although, because of his previous interest, and being from CHI, I could see him signing for a longer contract, 3 years or so.

I wouldn't be happy with a 1-2 punch of Brown and Benson, but yet, another bargain buy in my eyes.

I have to say he is one of the most disappointing fantasy picks up I made last season.

I don't know exactly how this helps us, I just kind of view him in the same type of back as Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson. Catch, run over people. etc. I think we need the speed type of back.

He was dynamite after the first game of the season, and then was a dud after that, for whatever reason. I'm in agreement with NoSkyy (minus the FFB thing since I'm a novice at that stuff). I view Mr. "Excuse Me Miss" (yes, I know different CB, but I had to throw it out there) as a back with some serious speed, but fits the role of a #2 back. But it won't matter until we get that O-Line strengthened.

if we pick him up were most definately going OT in the first round

Why does it seem like every rumor regarding the Bears involves the Bears having 'interest', but the player scheduled to visit other teams? Is Jerry Angelo like the stereotypical nerd at the dance not wanting to go anywhere near the dance floor, but staring into space instead imaging himself asking out the prom queen? :D

How about Kevin Jones, just released from the Lions or maybe both?

Well, you can write off Brown, he just signed with the Houston Texans, Bears probably were trying to get him for the same money as they got Lloyd.

I'm glad the Bears didn't go after Brown. He is just waaaay to fragile.

Funny how every article the Trib prints up ends up being wrong in the end. No homecoming here you silly 'tards.

They should print this headline in the sports section tomorrow:

YET ANOTHER MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. FREE AGENT RUNNING BACKS SPRINT PAST BEARS!

RB's are avoiding the Bears like the plague. Jerry Angelo is a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) schmuck.

Nice, SWIFTSLICK. If I was a FA running back, I'd avoid the Bears as well after hearing about their new promotion in which randomly picked fans get to start at left tackle this coming season...

He's injury prone, but he could be a good back to share carries with Benson... since the team is still pretty clearly committed to him (at the moment).

Don't worry, I'm sure the Bears are INTERESTED. Also, I heard that the remaining NFL teams have already scheduled an interview.

...oh yea, I hope the Bears are interested in backs that have proved themselves.
I'd feel better about that, then picking up a back with our first pick.

(I was talking about the Benson situation  )

What I'm really worried about is a domino effect of a couple things.

-we don't pick up a back to go with Benson
-All the offensive lineman worth our 14th pick are gone
-can't find anybody to trade down with
-Mendenhall, Stewart are off the board

Then what do we do?

We'll end up using the first round pick on a lineman not worthy of the 14th pick (Gosder Cherilus, Carl Nicks or Anthony Collins), and we'll use our second round pick on one of the 2nd tier RB talents (Felix Jones or Chris Johnson).

I'd be ok with a WR for either the 1st or 2nd, just as long as we get/have one OL already, but I doubt the Bears go for a WR.

After telling the media they are ok with Bradley and Hester, I'm sure they're in superbowl mode with Lloyd and Booker. Foolish if its true.

Guess that means I'll see you at "walk-on" day?
