Just wondering if anyone know what the famous Jimmy Johnson chart would say we'd have to give up to move up 9 or so spots?

If I'm reading this right, the value on the Chiefs' #5 pick is 1,700 which means it would cost our 1st rd pick (1,100) + our 2nd rd pick (460) + our 5th rd pick (37.5).

I'm sure there are countless ways to swap various other picks for both teams and make this work but that's just one consideration. You thinking about McFadden after today's Sun-Times article?

Didn't read the Sun Times, but just wondering if they were considering getting him it what would it take. Given your scenario, I know that the Bears will be moving down. Thanks for the link though. Will make a great time waster at work.

Interesting. So swapping with the 49ers in the 3rd round was the equivqlent of getting a low 4th round pick.

If that pick gets us McFadden, it's hard to say no. It's a steep price, but we pick up that star back we need to carry the offense. He still wouldn't have much of a line to run behind, but we could probably find a serviceable guy in the 3rd and maybe 4th round to plug in, or platoon the RT for a year with St. Clair and hope for the best.

Would the Chiefs be open for a deal like that though?

We have 2 third round picks, so maybe giving up that 2nd round pick wouldn't be so bad. Also, if we don't sign a free agent before the draft won't we get compensatory picks for losing Berrian? This sounds like a question for Cliff???

Well, the trade I did in the Realgm user mock was the 1st, a swap of 2nd rounders and a 3rd to move up to the 7th(and then I grabbed Matt Ryan instead of Darren Mcfadden but..,hey).

Is #5 the pick we need to trade up to anyway? Don't the Raiders want McFadden at #4 ?

Who the hell knows what the raiders want. They signed Fargas and like him a lot, restructed Rhodes, they really like Michael Bush as well and still have Lamont Jordan. Would they still take a RB, probably. You know AL loves speed, but if I looked at what they need it would be:

1. Chris Long
2. Jake Long
3. Glenn Dorsey
4. Vernon Gholston
5. Sedrick Ellis
6. Darren McFadden

Cliff Levingston has no idea.

i think we only get compensatory picks for losing berrian had we franchised him and we didn't... just a guess

it is probable they will receive compensatory picks from the NFL. The best guess is they will receive three additional seventh-round picks. Teams that lose unrestricted free agents and don't replace them with other teams' free agents are awarded compensatory picks.

...picks are determined by the value of the contracts the players they lose sign and their performances in the subsequent season.

Sooo....the compensatory picks we get for the '08 draft are based on the performance of the free agents we lost last year (Gage, Boone, Scott, Worrell, T Johnson). You wouldn't see any compensation for the losses of Berrian, Gilmore, and Ayanbadejo in terms of draft picks until the '09 draft. At least that's my read...

If so, I hope Berrian has a bust out year, leads the league in total catches and YPC and the Vikings go winless giving up an average of 35 ppg.

Those bonus draft picks could help if we dont exactly get too fill our needs in the first 6 rounds. These guys could contribute on special teams

Nobody seems really thrilled to be at the top of this draft, I think a team like us could move up without much difficulty. Of course, we would only want to do that if we saw someone we REALLLY wanted. If you see alot of value lower, not alot if differentiation between the top picks, why pay more for equal talent?
