I rarely post on the Bears board, so howdy to all!!

They both want something from the organization (new contract and a traded), both are franchise type players and fit the other teams worst needs (offense for the Bears and defense for the Bengals).

I'd do it and I may even throw a pick in there to do it. What do you all think?

Hell to the no. As mentioned in the other Chad Johnson thread, we don't have a QB that would allow a stud WR to shine, so what's the point? Had Jerry Rice spent his career on the Bears, I have little doubt you wouldn't see the guy in the HOF - he'd be just another receiver. A couple of 60 yard receiving games into the season and CJ would go into full pout mode.

I'm fine with playing hardball with Urlacher. As much as I like him (as a player, not a human being), we can win 7 to 8 games with or without him.

I wouldn't do this either. We would lose a defensive leader, and gain an offensive distraction. There is no doubt in my mind that Chad Johnson would be better, and I think people are underestimating how well he would do here. He'll get open, something our receivers could not do last year, giving Rex no chance. The only way I would do this, is if the Bengals threw in their first, and there is no chance of that, so I don't see it happening.

The fact that our entire defense is built around a speedy enforcer patrolling the middle of the field, I wouldn't do it.

Our defense starts at the line, with four aggressive rushers, but those guys wouldn't be successful if we didn't have a speedy MLB that can help on the line with rush D, help out the defensive backs as a ghost safety, and also play his own position as a MLB.

Most MLB have a hard time keeping up with 2 of those 3, Urlacher does all 3 well, simultaneously.

On offense, the WR is more of a complimentary piece. You would usually build around a RB or a QB on offense. There are very few successful WR that didn't have a RB or a QB.

Look at Moss in Oakland for example, he was a dud, then you give him Brady... and BOOOM!

Don't worry about it BigUps, people don't seem to realize its questions like this that give life to message boards. We're all here to learn from each other and escape our realities by talking sports.

Speaking of Chad, I've got to say I love this quote from Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis :

"He's made a statement he's not going to play and that's the consideration I've been aware of since the end of last season. It's time just to do what you say you're going to do, and we'll move forward," Lewis said in his strongest statement to date on the issue.

"I've stated our case with Chad. He has a contract through 2011. He's stated without an opportunity to go to a different team and a new contract, he wasn't going to play. I think he's a man of his word. He says he's not going to play, so don't play."

He's DARING him to sit out.
