Angelo's strengths in past drafts have been the middle rounds. This draft it's a glaring weakness.

You can't really say that until they play...

Back in the day when the Bears needed a TE he refused to draft one. Now that they have 2 solid ones he goes out and drafts one. Angelo is a moron. This draft will end up being just as bad as last years.

So who is the Bears #3 QB right now?

Should have been Andre Woodson. No way he slips to the 7th, so unless we trade into the sixth, we're screwed.
I was hoping that this guy would atleast be a good blocker... nope. Good at mid-range catching, and not an endzone threat. This is the only pick I don't like this year, and it was awful.

Only pick I really have a big problem with. I also don't like picking a CB, but he could be a good special teams player.
But this is a terrible pick. We have Olsen and Clark, we desperately need help on the offensive line and picking a QB can't hurt us.

Huh? He caught five TD's his Senior year.

The radio show I'm listening to said he won't be an endzone threat in the NFL. Said he will specialize on short and mid-range passes, and thats about it. I guess we'll see though

Who cares, its still a wasted pick. He's not going to play with Olsen and Clark already here.

Say what you want about Woodson but there is a small chance he becomes a good QB in the NFL, and I'd take that over a 3rd TE any day.

Clarks entering his 10th season. Lets not pretend like the position is set long term.
IMO there is a hell of alot better chance of Davis becoming a productive player than there is of Woodson making it off of a practice squad.
Its not that I think that highly of Davis, I just think so little of Woodson.

Not sure what everyone's problem is with this pick. You knew we were going to draft a TE with the loss of Gilmore. The Bears DO use 3 TEs. I will grant you I thought this guy would be a block-first TE but he looks like a friggin' beast in the pics I've seen. Muscles on his muscles. I know, I know...so did Alonzo Spellman.
Kellen Davis
TE, Michigan State
War Room analysis
Strengths: Is a physical specimen, with good speed and functional strength. Runs solid routes, and uses his size well. Shows good flexibility to get low for short passes or go up high for tall ones. Is strong at the point of attack. Fares well as a pass protector, showing good punch and extension. Has good lateral quickness to mirror defenders' moves, both on running and passing plays. Runs hard after the catch. Is incredibly versatile, having played offense and defense in '07. Shows the size and post-up ability to be a nice red-zone target.
Weaknesses: Does not always play all-out and will take plays off. Does not finish blocks with power; fails to dominate smaller defenders the way he should. Must get stronger. Lacks concentration as a receiver, dropping easy passes when looking to run before securing the ball. Fights the ball too often. Gets tied up too often at the line of scrimmage by defenders he should beat easily.
Bottom line: Davis proved his status as one of the best athletes in the '08 draft by, in addition to playing tight end, being a pass-rush specialist on defense. He has a perfect body for an NFL tight end. Although he'd rather run a route than block, he rarely gets beat in pass protection. Once he gets fired up, Davis can drive defenders off the ball. His solid play as a senior and his tantalizing athletic ability will make him a high pick.

He's 6'6" and ran a 4.6
He has flags that dropped him significantly, but this guy has play maker talent when he wants to use it.
Our QB's need all the help they can get. I like this pick quite a bit.

It doesn't surprise me we are stacking our TE depth, the coaching staff has always liked the 3 TE on the roster, but we had major needs, and i think everybody was thinking OL and to a lesser extent QB.
If we get an OL to drop to us that can produce on a consistent basis, this pick doesn't look so bad.
