Brett Favre A Bear (And The Entire Brett Favre Saga)

This board is like a barren wasteland in the summer, might as well talk about this. I don't need to summarize this debacle for anyone, so let's jump right to it. Should the Bears, if he becomes available, go after Brett Favre?

I don't ever want to see the name Favre on the back of a Bears jersey.

It will never happen, although, I have entertained the thought.

That is the only thing I can imagine other than my death that would stop me from watching or listening to the Bears this year.
That would be like inviting the molester of my child over for dinner.
That would be like ..... I can't even think of an analogy that would really reflect how disgusted I would be. In fact I would use THAT as an analogy to express my disgust in another situation in life. Someone could say to me..."what do you think about X happening to Y" and I'd say "You have to be kidding! That would be like frickin Brett Favrehehe coming to play quarterback for the damn Bears!"
I would hope for immediate injury in camp.

I can't see it happening.
If it does, I can see somebody from Chicago AND Wisconsin assassinate Favre simultaneously.

As a Bulls fan, I never thought I would ever see John Starks in a Bulls uniform.
As a Cub fan, I never thought I would ever see Jim Edmonds in a Cub uniform.
I guess anything can happen but I don't see the Packers releasing Favre or trading him within the division.

Well, before I say anything, I consider myself one of the biggest CHICAGO HOMERS to have graced this planet. That said, I actually wouldn't object o Brett Favre to becoming a Chicago Bear. We haven't had a franchise QB since well...Sid Luckman. I'm sure many will mention Jim McMahon, Jim Harbaugh, etc. But they weren't the kind of QBs that had the kind of success Favre's had. The only thing that'd put me off about Favre joining is our questions on the Offensive Line, Running Backs, and Wide Receiving core (so about 90% of our offensive players). At least we have our Tight End situation straightened out with Clark and Olsen. I'll also mention that I think our team leaders (Tillman, Urlacher, and esp. Tommie Harris) would embrace him joining the Bears. This team isn't getting any younger, if Angelo's ever going to roll a serious pair testicular dice, now might be the time. I still don't believe anyone in the NFC is invincible (esp. the Cowboys they're not all that to be feared of). And I'm sure now, I'll get blasted by my Chicagoan (non-Chi) posters on RealGm.

I've been a Favre hater since he put on a Packers uniform. That said, if he can win a SB for the Bears, I'd say welcome aboard. Seriously, who would give us the best chance to win Rex? Neckbeard? or FAVRE? It's all about winning, and the Bears offense just isn't built for it. What really puzzles me is why they seem to be content with the RB position. I'd be after anyone that upgrades the skill positions, especially QB. Favre would do that, period.

Agreed.
I'm really disappointed in the Lovie & Angelo administration for not thinking about Kevin Jones, and sticking with Forte & AP ver. 1. I was more confident with our offense last year than going into this coming season. The only thing that will make me change my mind is that: a.) The offensive line is back and blocking well, b.) Rex/Kyle play solid, limiting mistakes, and c.) Forte is a solid RB. Thats a lot to expect to go into a season. I'll be happy even if only "a.)" comes to fruition this year.

I smell too much IF from this offense to have any confidence going into 2008

i hate favre
but if he were a bear i would love him; buy his new jersey the day he signed
i think our offense could be ridiculous with favre right away
with 4 and 5 wide sets; 4 with wolfe as the check down-----favre would move us up and down the field; forte will be a beast
its not the player, its the team
and as much hate and venom ive spit at favre over the years, i would embrace him so gratefully
for him to be a bear, he would have to choose us
i love anyone that chooses us, esp elite MVP SB champ QB's

The only reason I'd like it to happen would be to see the faces of all the Packer fans. His legacy would surely be tainted in GB. He just needs to hang it up. It's turning into a PR nightmare for him and the packer organization.

Favre's legacy in Wisconsin may already be tainted. It is amazing listening to the radio stations up here and hearing how pissed off the Packer fans are about Favre asking to be released. I think he managed to persuade many more Packer fans into hoping Rodgers gets the nod at QB. Favre won't be released, obviously, and will be traded.
But, if for some reason, he did end up on the Bears I would be rubbing it in all my friends' faces. It would be so damn funny. Before every game I would call them up and tell them what they have been telling me for years, "We got the 3 time MVP playing QB for us!"

Plus, this thread is exhibiting just how big of a mess this is turning the Packers into. A fanbase divided. A franchise divided. I don't like to say I get great joy out of things like this, but...I'm getting great joy out of this.

Why wouldn't I open it? Do you think being sick would ever stop me from following the Bears? I would have never survived the Waaaandstaaat era if that were the case.
Don't tell me what to do or I'll work my magic and turn you into a Cardinals fan!

Y'know, emperor, this may surprise you but I'd embrace Favre in a Bears uni. And you have to admit it would be a HUGE story that would wake up Bears fans that are basically expecting nothing special from this year. And the more pissed off the Pack makes Favre, the greater the chances he'd sign with the Bears if he were to be released, IMO. What better way to get back at your former team than to sign with their greatest division rival ?
I hated Rodman with a passion as a Piston and couldn't have loved him more with the Bulls. This falls under the same category.
Packers are blowing this big time.

I hated Rodman on the Bulls. Watched the Bulls with much less passion when he was on the team. He was a walking foul on the Pistons and a Walking foul on the Bulls.
