Favre trade to Vikings or Bears possible

The Green Bay Packers, driven to the brink of desperation in their ongoing spat with Brett Favre, have discussed internally the possibility of trading the quarterback within the NFC North Division.

A source close to the situation told the Journal Sentinel on Wednesday that the Packers were considering seeking a deal with one of their division rivals, most probably the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears, if backed into a corner by the National Football League and public sentiment.

On Monday, general manager Ted Thompson said flatly that the Packers would not trade Favre within the division.

But having no prospects of trading Favre anywhere else and under increasing pressure from Commissioner Roger Goodell, the Packers are considering doing almost the unthinkable: not only trading Favre, but also to the Vikings, a team that will be their opponent Sept. 8 on opening night at Lambeau Field.

If he goes to Minnesota, that's very, very bad. If he comes here...ha, well, let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

CBS7 and Sportsworld,

Is there any way you guys would grant me the limited power :wizard: of topic deletion/locking? VERY limited. Just for:

1. Anything anything anything "Fravrehagen to the Bears" related; and
2. Anything posted on said topic by my good posting friend Chewie :D

???

I'm hoping its Vikings. I'd love to hate them even more. But the Packers would never do that. He's going to Tampa or the AFC.

If he's traded to a NFC team, its going to be the TEAM that STARTS WITH A "C" AND ENDS IN AN "O". I GUARANTEE IT if they trade him!

Oh, Emperor, you love the attention !

Mort on ESPN saying the Vikes or Bears would gladly give up a 1st for Favre. Not as sure about that. 2nd rounder....maybe. Or perhaps this whole thing will end in a Favre release.

Anyone else find it funny that one of the greatest quarterbacks of our time, maybe ever, and the two teams showing the most interest that we know of are his two biggest rivals? And another team in Tampa was a former division rival?

Ha.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel - An executive in personnel for the NFL with close ties to the NFC North division claims that the Packers have called the Vikings to inform them that Brett Favre is available, according to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

"They’ve kind of said through one of their (front-office) guys that if Favre did report they would potentially trade him within the division," the executive said Sunday afternoon.

So the Pack accuses them of tampering and yet that's the first team they'll be contacting after Favre reports?? We seriously need to get into this mix. I'm hoping the Vikes make a commitment to Tarvaris Jackson and leave Favre to us if they're going to trade within the division. This is at the very least worthy of picking up the phone and seeing what the price is. Quietly.

If Farve goes to the Bears, Tim Donaghy is the lead official and Hulk Hogan is still World Champ.

If Favre ends up in Minnesota, they become a Super Bowl contender. That would be highly, highly unfortunate.
