How has this poll not been created already ?
OK, this isn't who you WANT to be the starting QB, it's who do you think Lovie will anoint as the starting QB for opening night vs the Colts come 9/7.
I'm going to guess Orton. I think the Bears want a manager at QB and will look to success with intermediate routes to the TE more which Kyle probably is marginally better than Rex at. Neck-beard doesn't have the arm of Rex to be sure but you also probably won't lose the game because of him (though it's up to debate whether you will WIN the game because of him). It's the boring choice but I honestly think that's what the Bears want right now - minimal picks, no fumbled snaps, and someone that will fold and take the sack when he's cornered. Exciting, huh ?

Re: Who's going to be under center come 9/7?
I watched the practices the last couple days and I have to say Orton really looks better than Grossman. I'll be there again today, then off to see the Colts training camp in Terre Haute, IN.
The plays being ran for both guys are pretty equal. Rex had a few more long passes than Orton, but Orton's throws were so much more accurate and the plays ended up smoother. Rex threw several balls that caused excessive reaching for the WRs, and his short passes, were... short, still.
From the looks of it, The Bears really want Rex to succeed, but I think Orton has the upper hand right now.

I'm also a believer in the NeckBeard. Let him minimize mistakes, use his tight ends, and win with good defense, special teams and please God
a running game.

I still the decision of who actually is the QB won't come until after 2 or 3 preseason games. I, like the BEARS management, want Rex to succeed too. But according to BEP, it seems Kyle Orton is the favorite right now (which I'm fine with if he gives the team the best chance to win games).

Ill go with Orton .I think its easier for him to take more chances the more comfortable he gets in a offense where as I think it will be difficult for REX to play it safe,

The mere fact that Brett Favre is on this poll is going to set emperorjones into a frenzy that we've never seen before.
Orton. But let's face it, it's like picking syphilis over gonorrhea. Either way, we're not gonna like what happens next.

I think that's a different poll altogether!
BTW - I heard Rex was booed during the intros and after every missed completion last night when they practiced at Soldier Field.

I voted Orton. I actually wouldn't mind either starter because neither is much better then the other.
Grossman did look solid before his injury, though.

Grossman. He's going to be given ONE more chance. If he stinks early the change will come though.

If we dont get Farve, you'd might as well flip another coin
I have to go with talent--so rex starts until week 3 or 4
If he continues to destruct, Orton gets a shot next-------if we are in the playoff hunt, Hanie wont see the field----lovie doesnt take risks like that
If we are out of the hunt by weeks 11-12 Hanie finishes out the season and we start building for 09 and draft another prospect
