Bears add offensive line help

Vaughn McClure, 3:52 p.m.

The Bears added some offensive line help Tuesday, trading a undisclosed 2009 draft pick to Tampa Bay for former Buccaneer starting guard Dan Buenning.

To make room on the roster for Buenning, the Bears released fifth-round draft pick Zackary Bowman, a cornerback from Nebraska.

Buenning (6-4, 320) started all 16 games at left guard for Tampa Bay in 2005 and he started seven of nine games in 2006 before being placed on the injured reserve with a knee injury. He was inactive for every game last season.

Buenning was drafted in the fourth round out of Wisconsin in 2005. His hometown is Green Bay.

Yeah, I was going to post a scouting report on the guy but couldn't find anything worth posting.

Oh yes, this is muuuch better than getting Willie Anderson.

And - as an added bonus - we expose Bowman who I had high hopes for.

Bah, I was hoping Bowman would turn out to be the legit star everyone thought he would be.

Buenning lost his starting job not because he was bad but because he got hurt and Davin Joseph and Arron Sears are both better. He's a better run blocker than pass protector, not real agile, more of a leaner than a drive blocker. He's an upgrade but not a real difference maker up front.

The Bears are praying nobody claims Bowman so they can put him on the practice squad. Everything I heard was that they like him but he's not ready yet.

I don't know much about Buenning. Can he start for us?

I've been looking at the O-Line and I really have no idea who is going to play there for us. I hope we keep trading to add depth. The way I see it, the line looks something like:

LT - ? (Williams when healthy, St Clair until then?)
LG - ? (Metcalfe? Beekman? Buenning?)
C - Kreutz
RG - Garza
RT - Tait

How do you guys see the starting O-Line? Assuming everyone is healthy, who do you start?
